We didn't find Gunn. But we did find the room. I'm surprised, things actually went pretty smoothly. And it was in the basment. What I got in there? "He's trying to do what?" I ask her, frowning a little. "Why would he do that? It doesn't make sensse - you can't just make people into other people because you feel like it - it's not rational!" It's not, I don't know what he's thinking. "An LA branch of the Magic Box? Well, I was branching out, but I hadn't considered that. Willow is meant to be helping me set up and internet mail order service at the moment, though I haven't seen her lately - possibly she's writing some plans before presenting them to me."

"Possibly. I was just thinking that it'd make sense. I could put in an investment as well, be a partner here, make sure that it's running smoothly when you're in Sunnydale, and it could be a beneficial arrangement all around!" I say. I have thought a lot about this. I think it'd be doable...and yes, probably profitable, though mostly my motivation is towards having on hand everything that we often need in our line of work. Mostly.

"Oh! Oh!! I see what you're trying to do!! You see my Magic Box as a profitable, well run business and you want a piece of that without having to do all the leg work of setting up the shop yourself and making it successful! I see! Do you not have enough money alreayd little miss 'I own my own hotel'?"

I arch an eyebrow. "Calm down. I just know where I'm beat. You? Great with the business stuff. Me? Not so much. Besides, I don't want a piece of it all, just the shop here. Call it compensation for making sure it doesn't get burned to the ground. But it'd really help us out in our whole battle against evil thing, and you'd make great money off of it." I say reasonably.

"Is there a market for it?" I ask, calming down slightly. "And we'd have to discuss percentages."

"Yes, there's a market for it. It's L.A. land of the perpetual weirdness along with having high priced weirdos to perpetuate said weirdness. And of course, us. Battling evil requires magic sometimes, and while it's so totally not my area, it is Wes's." I say. "Percentages. What we talkin?"

"Well, we are talking about a business that I built up-" I don't mention Giles' involvement. "-and it'll be my skill that keeps the place going, I would imagine. Say 70:30?"

"How often are you planning to be here?" I ask. "Because if I'm taking it for the majority of the year, I'd expect 40 percent. And you know you didn't do it all on your own, you had Giles's help." I point out. I'm not a total moron.

"Yes, but we both know that, as good with books as Giles may be, this place would have gone under in weeks had it not been for my business finesse - the man's a librarian, remember? And anyway, you'd probably be looking to me to do all the ordering and the books as well - much more input than you. How about 65:35?"

"I'll learn to do ordering and stuff eventually. I can pick up on things you know. Though you will be doing more of it..." I ponder for a few moments. "37:63, to be possibly renegotiated in a year." I say.

"Done," I say, pleased with the outcome. "Though the renegotiation can be either up or down, agreed?" I want to ensure that she has the incentive to pull her weight if there is to be a joint venture - it's not like there's going to be much question as to capital input.

"Of course." I say. "Only makes sense." It does. I smile, pleased. "When can you get here to look at our clay pot of doom? Time's not quite run out yet but it will soon." I say, getting back to other matters.
