Vision

Aug 24, 2005 00:26

I went to bed in an alright mood, really. I got some paperwork out of the way for my spankin new property, and I was feeling...well okay. Nothing too dire was hanging over my head.

It woke me up out of a dead sleep. I fell out of bed. It was bad. I felt like I was going to be sick, too, good thing I wasn't because ew.

But I saw him. I saw him. ( Read more... )

I round the corner and almost collide with Corelia coming in from outside. I manage to keep the doughnut box from getting smashed, but her expression looks like she might want to smash other things. "Hey, Cordy, everything okay?" I ask, nervous. I know she was pissed last night.

I shake my head, striding past him. "No is not strong enough a word." I say, wondering if I should even bother taking a weapon, or if that would just be stupid. Probably stupid. It's not like I'm a fighter. Well, okay I can fight, but I'm not a 'stick me on the tenth floor and watch me battle my way out' fighter.

Okay, what's this? This is not her being pissed at me--I don't think, anyway. I set the doughnuts on a chair, and take her arm to slow her down. "Whoa, what's wrong? Did something happen?"

I almost try to shrug him off, but don't at the last second. "Yes. I got a vision. I'd like to go to Wolfram and Hart now and shake our friend out of them, want to come?" I ask. I'm going either way.

So VERY not okay.

I frown. "Check, vision. You want to maybe back up a step or two? What friend do you plan to shake out of them? And yes, if you're going, I'm going along. But I'd like to know why." It's like she didn't even hear what I said to Willow about backup, of course I'm going.

"Hello! Vision! That's why!" I say. It's possibly I'm being irrational. I reach up to cover my eyes for a moment, then sit down on the nearest seat. "I saw Gunn. They've got him, or something, and there's this chair, and a Clockwork Orange or something, and then he dies, and I'm not going to let that happen." I say.

At Gunn's name, I blanche. Well, if that's possible. I go a little light-headed, anyway. "Wha-huh? How do they have Gunn? He's dead, I killed him, remember?" I want to remind her how she counseled me not long ago not to go in there with guns blazing, but I'm thinking she's not in the mood for that.

"Yes, I remember." I say. "Doesn't mean that He's not somewhere in this city. I....I saw him the other day, then Willow did a location spell or something, it didn't work but she confirmed he's somewhere, and now the vision. Are we up to speed now? Can we get going?" I ask, and I can hear how upset I am in my own voice. Not good.

Great, they really keep you in the loop, don't they? I guess that's why his axe was out. So...he's alive?

"How?" I say, half to myself. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, it's not like they hadn't brought Darla back from dust, or me. "Would this be a bad time to say maybe we should get a little more information before attempting a rescue mission?" I ask carefully.

"No." I mutter. "But I don't know how much time we have." I look up at him. "And I know it's got to be them, they're the only ones we know who like to randomly resurrect people..." I look him in the eye. "We'll tell everyone, but I want to go there. I want to talk to the one I saw in my vision. I don't think we've dealt with him before."

"What was he like?" I ask, drawing up a chair and sitting down, so we're close. The Powers usually gave them enough time to complete the mission, and more details seemed essential. "It's a big place, Cordy, it could tak forever to search it unless we get more to go on." I'm thinking of the woman still periodically screamin from the cage downstairs. She works for them, she might have seen him.

"The guy? Lawyerly. Suit, tie, smug look on his face. Hot. Probably an asshole like the rest of them." I say, keeping my eyes on his. "As for Gunn...he was strapped to a chair. Nasty evil giving him pain chair, looked like something was on his head. Then he was dead, and they tossed him into a furnace." I shudder, and hug myself.
