The Independent has informed me that
some people spent up to £250 on tickets for the DW prom. Idiots.
Apparently other people were queuing from five in the morning. Idiots.
When
mortari,
ellenbombellen and I got there, there was a massive honking queue and it was bloody hot. This was at about quarter to ten. You'll note that this is cutting it a little fine, and we did almost lose heart after queuing for 20 minutes (what? It was hot and we were hungry). But by half ten we had our tickets and after a nice cool drink at the bar, we entered the auditorium. And got a great spot: the Cybermen marched right by us, and we were within spitting distance of Davros. (That last sentence is brilliant; I suspect I'll never get to say anything like that ever again).
I've seen a lot of people discussing the mini-episode that we lucky prom-goers got to see. It was probably the cheesiest moment of my life, but it was colossal fun. As for the canonical status, I shall do the standard Who-fan cherry-picking. Tuba-playing Doctor is now in my canon, but I refuse to think about when the events took place as it will give me a headache. I'm still bouncy over Catherine Tate appearing, and I was delighted to see just how much everybody loved Donna.
The morning was well worth the fiver. But not £250.
