Whilst I'm personally in favour of an alternative vote system, I am pretty astounded that in this day and age it is seriously being proposed that the electoral system could be reformed without a referendum on the subject, particularly as neither of the parties sitting in c.85% of the seats as elected under our current system of democracy stood on a platform of such reforms.
