Germ of an idea

This is a seed of a post that I hope to develop further later on, but I was struck with a stroke of inspiration this morning and I had to see it through.

From the Emmys on Monday[*](I originally missed the joke in Seth Meyers' intro; it's pretty funny):

You know what would have been great? If all of a sudden Constantine the Frog had shown up and sang, "That's it kid! There you go. Now, step aside; this ain't your show!"

[...]I don't want to openly insult Gervais, because I know that's exactly what sustains him; I might as well present myself to Count Dracula with a drinking straw inserted directly into my jugular vein. Nevertheless, I do have to say that the unmitigated gall of Ricky Gervais for whining about only having won two career Emmys almost reaches "2014 Tessa Virtue" levels of self-centeredness. You know what, pal? That's exactly two more Emmys than Sofia Vergara has ever won, and she is WAAAAAAAAAY funnier and more talented than you (and prettier, but of course that goes without saying). So, as Sherlock and John say, f--cough.

In related news, Muppets Most Wanted is out on DVD now. Rowlf the Dog from 1966 and prototypical Constantine think you should buy it.

Seriously, please buy it. You don't even have to watch it, I don't care; just buy it. Consider it a donation to the cause of Muppet preservation and perpetuation.
