Aila: *is running around, fetching water here, wrapping a bandage there, taking someone's temperature somewhere else*

Queen: *leaving the twins with Nash again, she drops by the infirmary to check up on Aila, expecting to see her in bed but raises an eyebrow when she is very much not* Hey there, Aila. What are you doing?

Aila: Oh...hi! I'm trying to get everyone healed up after the battle - you know that lady with the funny headband went completely crazy and she had these...Knights defending her and we had to fight them all and the Captain jumped in and...

Queen: *smiles - Aila is still energetic as ever* So I've heard. *gives her a knowing look, smirking just a little* But I also heard that you and the Captain both got yourselves banged up a bit. Just what are you doing out of bed, little missy?

Aila: Oh, my injuries aren't that bad. *holds up her arm* I just put some herbs on that and I'm ready to go. There's people here that are far worse off than I am and...the Captain took a few hits too but I'm sure Sigurd fixed [him] up...

Queen: *nods* Well, I'm glad it was nothing serious then. *glances around at the various people in the infirmary* Any worse, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for not being able to help.

Aila: I don't think anyone expected this to happen, honestly. I was coming out of the infirmary after a shift of folding towels when that lady came out. Then I saw the Captain stop and stare and I figured that this was going to be trouble.

Queen: *sighs* I know. And the Queen, she's a good person from what could tell from all the times we've spoken. Although I do admit that lately, she has been the most haughty piece of work I've met. Including Elaine.

Aila: Get out, no way! Nobody could be as bad as [Elaine]!

Queen: *smirks* Hard to believe, isn't it? But even Elaine doesn't believe herself to be an unstoppable goddess. She might wish it sometimes, maybe. But at least she has no misconceptions about herself. *expression becomes more solemn again* But from what I understand, it's because of that Rune she bears. I've never liked True Runes and that's just another reason for me to hate them.

Aila: How much do you think is the Rune, and how much is the person themselves? I mean...I believe that we all have parts of ourselves that we don't show to others if we don't want to...maybe the Rune just took advantage of that.

Queen: *shakes her head, not wanting to believe that the royal woman was really that arrogant* I don't know. But if you're stuck-up bitch, you'd have no reason to hide it. Again, take Elaine for example. The Queen and I have had some lovely conversations and I just know that she is a kind woman. As a mother too, I can tell she loves her children very much as well. Granted, she probably has her faults too, I just don't think haughtiness is one of them.

Aila: Well...I hope you're right. If she's someone's mother, she can't be all that evil. But that makes me wonder - can a [rune] be that evil?

Queen: I think all the True Runes are evil. *snorts* Or at least, the ones we've encountered thus far. And I've heard stories about others, like the Rune of Punishment. *a shadow crosses her face, remembering Cray* Geddoe is quite the man to be able to handle a True Rune the way he does. I know it can't be easy.

Aila: He looks as if he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Queen: Yeah, sometimes he does. I wish I could help take some of that weight off for him but well, *smirks* that's what Sigurd's for. I'm glad he finally settled with someone.

Aila: Me too. It's nice to know that he's not so moody-broody.

Queen: *laughs* Although I don't know what he would say if he heard you call him that. He probably grumble, like when I call him Uncle Geddy-bear.

Aila: I can practically feel him cringing because you said that. o.O

Queen: *grins evilly* Oh, but he ought to know that I do it just to tease him. It's so much fun~

Aila: Oh, my...speaking of the twins, how are they?

Queen: They're doing well considering they just got a bunch of new toys. *smiles* Can you believe they're already two?

Aila: And suddenly, I feel like I'm old and I've missed a lot.

Queen: Don't be ridiculous, Aila. No one's old until they're eighty. Granted, I can't believe how fast time flies by for Ivan and Elyssa, they're still just two years old. *sighs* And probably ready to start trouble around here soon enough.

Aila: If they're walking, talking, and old enough to say 'Uncle Geddy-bear', then they're ready to start trouble. *giggles* But seriously. I wouldn't have gone in there had the Captain had not gone in there. There's nobody else from the 12th left, really. I felt like...I had to stand up for that memory, you know?

Queen: *smiles* Yeah, I miss those days too. But it would have been all right if you chose to get involved even if Geddoe wasn't. He's right - if it were me, I would have done something about it too. Even if none of you were there.

Aila: I can't let anything happen to the Captain. It's...*pauses*...so many other things in my life have vanished, Queen. It would stink if either you or he did, too.

Queen: *smile turns sympathetic and she moves closer to the younger woman to give her a hug* I know. I completely understand. You guys are all I have left too. Not counting Ivan, Elyssa or Nash. But I don't plan to be leaving here, if I can help it. *pulls back to grin at Aila* So count on me being here for you as long as I can.

Aila: Okay. Because I'd have to be pretty sore if y'all left.

Queen: I refuse to go anywhere. This is my home now and you all are my family. There's nowhere else I should be. *smiles warmly*

Aila: That's good. *hears some moans and groans in the background* Hey, Queen, can we finish this over food at the cafe? I think someone over in the next aisle needs a little help...*grins sheepishly*

Queen: Certainly. *smirks* You're such a sweetheart. Go ahead and help them. I'll just wait for you in the cafe.

Aila: Food's on me! And bring the twins - I'd love to see them

Queen: *smiles as she nods* Will do. Later then!
