Day 2 in Daytona became quite adventurous. After a day of morning beach time, we all took off to the pier. While in the arcade I hit the jackpot on one of the games and won 156 tickets for it - woo! Anywho, Toneman got a ticket for his parking. Well, we thought it was because the parking meter expired, but in fact it was due to the fact that his tire was “on” the white parking line instead of “inside” the lines. Ugh.
That evening is when the storm came.
Down in moms room we were noticing some commotion on the beach - everyone was being cleared off. When we looked left (not sure which direction that was) we saw the storm clouds rolling in. A few moments later we saw the clouds taking a strange shape. Ooooooo..
You know me, I have to film EVERYTHING. So there I am with my Sony Cybershot DSC-S650 7.2 megapixels. I start snapping away. I managed to even catch some lightening - not too shabby for a point and shoot!
Then I see the waterspout on the ocean. Moms floor is the second floor. There are trees in the way. FAIL! So I run (and everyone follows) to the other hotel room we have which is the 6th floor, corner balcony, no trees! The dang spout was gone but the rain was soooo intense! I tried to photograph some things but it was just terrible!
Then it was over. Tink went out and noticed the chair in the kiddie pool so I snapped a pic of that. I then took pics of the rainbow that was one of the widest I have ever seen (and I lived in Hawaii where they have them all the time). It was even “touching” the water so close to shore! I took a ton of pics trying to capture as best as I could.
Then it started raining again (that must have been the eye of the storm while I was snapping the rainbow). I try to go inside because the rain is now painful. The wind is pulling the door so freakin hard that I am literally making about a few inches of ground (pulling it closed) before the wind pulls the door all the way back open - dragging me with it. This goes on for several times. The people in the hotel room are laughing at me and I was laughing at me too. It was hilarious. But at the same time, it was so frustrating! I am a strong girl and by no means do I weigh 80 pounds, so pulling me along is not easy! Eventually I got the door shut. I felt like those reporters who get blown over in hurricane reporting.
The storm passed and we got another rainbow. We also now had 3 chairs in the kiddie pool.
Totally awesome experience. So many of those pics I took were out in the nasty rain and wind.
I am uploading all of Daytona into a folder, be sure to check out the storm shots.
I am most proud of my lightening shot. I feel really good about that one since I do not have a professional camera.
This link will stay public for a while and then become friends only - but for now, you can check them out! Just get to the whatever you wanna see, you are not required to see all pics. You will know the storm (if that suits your fancy) when you get there. ^_^
