Anyway, all about the fic
here Chapter 2: Álfheimr
The players' inn was located within Asgard. They had been sent to Asgard which Kazuya realized, had a palace and adorned by gold and jewels. The palace itself was the Valhalla where the competitors would rest, eat, and maybe devise a plan on how to win the game.
"This is...interesting." Kazuya told his friend, Tatsuya.
When his friend told him to do something fun, he never thought that they'd end up auditioning for a game show. The physical tests were torturous enough to his lean frame and the mental exam was the cherry on top of all those evil things they had to go through. Since he'd entered the world of modeling, he hated activities that required him to sweat a lot but then again, adventure was innate to every man.
"I told you that this will be fun, didn't I?" Tatsuya sounded giddy. Kazuya watched his friend head straight to the bed and lied down comfortably.
Since they weren't allowed to explore the island, all of them were brought to Asgard by carriages with their eyes blindfolded all throughout the ride. They were brought to their rooms by the help of their assistants, a group called HSJ. When they were told to take off the covers on their eyes, Kazuya was amazed at what greeted him. Their room was actually huge and spacious. It had five separate queen-sized beds. The rooms had five closets, two dressers, and two bathrooms. The walls sported a shade of white and the sheets were made of gold and expensive silk.
Kazuya looked at the other three beds and found three other guys who were busy talking. He could hear them exchanging words about the hideous screening procedure they went through.
In an effort to make new friends, Kazuya walked to the other three men inside the room.
"Hi. My name's Kamenashi Kazuya." he introduced himself when the guys looked at him curiously.
"Iriguchi, deguchi, Taguchi-desu!" the tallest of the three chirped and Kazuya found himself smiling as he shook hands with the man.
"Taguchi Junnosuke." the other introduced himself yet again.
"Taguchi then." Kazuya nodded. He shifted his gaze to the other side and found Tatsuya staring at him in a weird manner. Kazuya only shrugged.
"I'm Nakamaru Yuichi and this one here," Yuichi pointed at the other man, "is Tanaka Koki. It's nice to meet you, Kamenashi-kun."
Kazuya took Yuichi's hand and shook it gently. "Oh, Kame's fine. It's a pleasure to meet all of you." he said with a smile.
Koki stared at the man in front of him. Somehow, he felt like he knew the man. The pretty face, the fair skin, that cute nose and those eyes...
"You're a model, aren't you?" Koki decided to ask. He narrowed his eyes to study the man's profile some more.
Kazuya turned to the man named Koki. "Yes, I am. You know me, Tanaka-san?"
"I knew it!" Koki suddenly jumped. "You're the guy my cousin fangirls over! I better get your autograph so I can bribe her with something." the look on Koki's face spelled devious if not evil.
"Eh?!"
"You're a bad cousin, Koki!"
Tanaka Koki...
"Wait! Are you the rapper Koki??" Junnosuke suddenly voiced out. His eyes were wide as he stared at Koki.
Koki grinned and assumed a gladiator's stance. "Now, now." he said, his chest out, stomach in, and back straightened. I'm not that famous or am I? Well, you see, I have my own show and I've produced albums. I'm smart and talented and--"
"And you're one boastful egg, yes."
"Oh, come on, Yuchi! Let me have the limelight today~" Koki whined like a child.
Kazuya watched the other three, amused.
"Oh, don't mind him, Kame-chan. Working with him gave me immunity." Yuichi said as he continued to ignore Koki's whines.
"Oh, you work together?"
"Sometimes." Yuichi shrugged. "It's not glamorous, I tell you."
Before Kazuya could even form an answer, knocks suddenly rapped on their door before it opened slowly. A young, petite boy poked his head in.
"I came to tell you that Takizawa-senpai is waiting for you at the dining hall." the boy said in a polite tone.
"Oh, is it dinner already?" Tatsuya asked the boy who looked pretty enough to be mistaken as a young girl.
The boy shook his head slightly. "It will be served after an hour by the chefs Takizawa-san and Imai-san has personally chosen. They call their group TOKIO. Takizawa-san just told me to inform you that your presence is needed downstairs."
"Okay. Thanks for telling us, uh..."
"Oh, my name's Chinen Yuri and I am in charge of watching over the room while the group is out." the boy said, smiling.
The guys nodded in return. "Well, thank you, Chinen." Kazuya smiled at the boy who excused himself and closed the door softly behind him.
"He's a pretty boy."
"Let's go down. I'm hungry."
"Yeah."
"Yeah!"
"Idiots."
--
The walls of the dining hall were painted gold. Its ceiling sky-high and the windows were like those that belonged to a palace. The long table was made of oak, varnished in an elegant reddish color. The chairs supported the back, the seats plush and made of red velvet.
"Welcome to Valhalla!" Takizawa's voice echoed in the hall. He was seated at the north end of the table while Tsubasa was on the south. The contenders were placed east and west. Some looked eager, some were calm and others looked hungry, especially the man, Takizawa remembers, named Masuda Takahisa and a male who seemed like a gangster-wannabe or maybe, just desperate enough to join the yakuza.
"I've called you here so we can draw out what your characters will be." he said again. As if on cue, a cute boy came forth, the name Ryuhei was written on his nameplate, and handed Takki a gleaming bowl made of porcelain.
"This is what I call the Hlautbowl." he showed the piece of ceramic to the men who were seated before him. "In Norse mythology, Hlautbowls are used by people in special ceremonies where they honor the gods. And since this is a special part of the game, I opted to use a hlautbowl for this event. Inside this bowl are pieces of origamis." Takizawa put his hand inside the bowl and held a piece up for show. He placed it inside the bowl again when no questions were raised. "Open them up and your character shall be revealed along with their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. I am sure you guys know better than to squeal what your strengths and weaknesses are."
The hall was silent as everyone listened to the gamemaker.
"I will pass the bowl and please make sure to pick one. No one opens their origami unless I say so. Let's begin, boys!" then Takizawa handed the hlautbowl to the man on his right.
Kazuya dug his hand inside the bowl and tried to feel which origami gave him a good vibe. He took his hand out when his fingers clenched on a star-shaped origami before he passed the bowl to the man seated next to him, who was, of course, his friend Tatsuya.
Takizawa and Tsubasa watched as the bowl was passed between men around the table. The last one to get a hold of the bowl was the man seated across Kazuya and was situated on Takizawa's left. The man pulled out a triangle-shaped origami before he gave the hlautbowl back to Takizawa.
Takizawa surveyed the men who now held origamis in their hands. "Now that all of you have chosen, please open them and read. Tsubasa and I will be here if you have questions."
Sound of papers being unfolded echoed in the hall as the competitors tried to reveal their character in the game. Kazuya frowned when he read his. The text said Kitsune and below it the kitsune's abilities, strengths, and weaknesses were written.
"Are we supposed to act out our character?" Kazuya inquired. He wanted out if he was to walk around the island in all fours and leap in the air or something to that extent. The idea of him sniffing things doesn't sound too appealing either.
Takizawa waited for the others to quiet down before he spoke. "The rules of this game are simple." he started. "You won't have to act out your characters but your abilities, strengths, and weaknesses depend on them." Takizawa didn't have to see the contenders’ faces to know that the guys were confused and clueless.
"For example," Takizawa drawled out. "If I were a Tiger and my partner, Tsubasa, was a rabbit, I'd be able to defeat him and get him out of the game if I use savage, which is a tiger's ability to attack brutally and fiercely. Since he is a rabbit, Tsubasa could use escape. The fun ends once I track him down because when I touch him while the savage is still activated, he's out of the game. Well, that's unless a team mate comes to his aid or whomever for that matter."
"So all we have to do is use the abilities listed in here in order to defeat one another?" Toma dared to ask.
"Yes, Ikuta-san." Tsubasa answered. "You have to think really hard though since some of the abilities can only be used once or twice in the entire game. Circumstances may also arise wherein you'd have to trade a life in order for you or your team to move on. Powers of equal strength will be considered a draw and the players are still allowed to continue in the game but minus the abilities they've used."
"Anymore questions?" Takizawa asked.
"Can we burn these papers so that no one else would be able read them?"
"Good question, Satoshi-kun!" Takizawa almost shrilled. The players can see that he was excited. "But unfortunately, no, you may not. Once that paper is burned, drenched or by whatever means destroyed, the player automatically loses and is out of the game." Takizawa replied. "Anymore questions?"
"What if our character is a female?"
"Then good for you. Find your way out. I personally think that female characters are advantageous in the game." Tsubasa voiced out.
Several men nodded and that didn't escape one man's eyes. "Tsk! This should be easy." he thought to himself as his fingers played with the paper he had folded into its original shape once again.
"Anymore questions?" Takizawa, once again, asked as his eyes surveyed the players.
Seeing that there was none, Takizawa rolled a scroll open and said, "I shall now divide you into your groups. As you know, there will be three groups consisting of five members each. Let's start with the Vanirs. The team includes the Valkyrie, Nixie, Saci, Dvergar, and the Lampad. The Leshy, Wendigo, Sylph, Elf, and Kitsune for the team Æsir, and finally the team Jötun will be composed of the Selkie, Swan Maiden, Cockatrice, Dragon, and the Incubus. I will post this scroll at the main hall so you guys can check it again before you head to your rooms. Rooms are provided for each team so yes, if you have already settled in your room earlier, you are to transfer so you can join your team."
Kazuya frowned upon hearing that. There's a possibility that he and Tatsuya would have to sleep separately.
Akanishi Jin familiarized himself with the faces of the men he'd have to stay with for a month's time. He remembered a short man with jet-black hair by the name Nishikido Ryo. Jin instantly liked him because the man had scowled at this feminine-looking male by the name Tegoshi Yuya, who started talking and singing while they were in the room earlier. And then, there were these two guys from a band called Arashi. He couldn't remember their names because the guys just talked but never did mention any name except for Oh-chan and Ai-chan which didn't make sense to him.
Jin studied the man seated across him. He frowned and smiled as he talked to the man next to him. Like Tegoshi, these two looked feminine except maybe for the fact that the other emitted a fuck-off aura. Jin focused his eyes on the man who had half of his hair tied at the back of his head. He was beautiful and he could make out a lean figure out of the fitted, dark-green shirt that he wore. He could tell that the guy goes to the gym since the man's biceps were prominent. The fair skin almost glowed under the dining hall's bright lights.
"Are you having fun staring at me?"
Jin shifted his gaze up and met the man's eyes. The other looked annoyed and amused at the same time. A smile, close to a smirk, formed on his lips. "I didn't even have my fill yet, Kamenashi Kazuya. You shouldn't have interrupted me, sweetie."
Kazuya wasn't usually bothered by the fact that people knew his name. It was a given since he was a public figure but something about this man made him feel unsettled and somehow, he hated the thought. "Well, have fun then. I am sure you won't last long in the game anyway."
Amusement. Kazuya saw the man's face brighten up with amusement.
"What made you say that?" Jin asked. He could feel the others staring at them, listening to their conversation. Jin was sure the guys were having as much fun as he was.
Kazuya smiled sweetly at the man across him and said, "Because you're pissing me off and now I'm sure that I want you out of the game as soon as possible."
"Then I shall make you mine before I'm out of the game."
The idea that the guy was into pretty men like him didn't bother Kazuya. Instead, Kazuya ended the conversation with a, "We'll see about that. Whoever falls first loses."
