Weekend getaway [Sunday afternoon, for evilhandissue]

Mar 16, 2007 16:50

Beginning of the weekend is here, but be warned: thread is long and smutty. We don't normally smut, but figured we might as well let the pups have some fun just this once. *g*When Lindsey had first suggested they go away for the weekend, Cordelia had been a little hesitant. Not because she didn't want to spend time with him, but because the whole ( Read more... )

"Yeah, well, for someone who can't die, you're doing a pretty good imitation of a guy about to croak." She was hoping the lame joke would help keep him alert, but he had already gone limp before she'd finished.

She cursed again and laid him down on the sand, shaking him a bit at first in a vain attempt to wake him up, then remembering the injury she was supposed to be taking care of. She moved the sweater out of the way to see if it was still bleeding, and was surprised to find the flow of blood had slowed, if not stopped altogether.

"Huh. Medical benefits, I guess."

She'd watched Angel heal enough that she wasn't awed by the process anymore, so once she realized that's what was happening, she returned her attention to Lindsey himself. It was disconcerting how his body seemed to be slowing down, too much like watching someone die for her comfort, but she reminded herself of what he'd' said. He couldn't die.

Still, she'd feel better if he opened his eyes again.

"Lindsey." She gave him another shake, a littler harder this time. "Come on, Lindsey, wake up. If anyone walks by now, they're going to think I killed you. I am NOT going to jail for you, so wake up!"

Maybe bitching at him until he woke up would work.

"I don't think there's a jail that could hold you anyway," he moaned softly, wincing at her voice. "Don't shake me too hard... it needs to heal," he sat up slowly, a bit dizzy, and pulling his arm close to his body so the skin didn't stretch as he moved.

"I hoped I would never have to feel that pain again..."

She let out a breath when he started to speak and let go of him so he could sit up.

"Damn it, you scared the crap out of me." she sighed and drug her hands through her hair, trying to push it out of her face. She forgot they were covered in blood, which meant there were now red smudges on the sides of her face.

"So this healing thing... you're okay now?"

"It still hurts like a bitch, but it'll pass." He looked up at her.

"I'm sorry... you... you shouldn't have to see shit like this..."

"Kind of comes with the territory. You're not the first bleeding person I've ever seen, you know. I just never had to deal with it like that before, alone."

She shrugged and gave him a shaky smile. "Good thing I watch so many medical dramas, I guess. Though I'm sure you would have healed it no matter what I did."

""I'm surprised you didn't get all glowly on me. Didn't i teach you how to do that?" He gave her a shaky smile in return. "Don't tell me you forgot already."

He moved to stand up, wincing a bit as the pain came back from the movements.

"Oh yeah." She cringed a bit, feeling stupid for forgetting. "I guess I was too panicked to think of it."

When he tried to stand, she quickly moved to grab his good arm, before he fell down again. "Hey, maybe you shouldn't try to move too much yet."

"When have I ever not done something I shouldn't do?" But he let Cordelia help him stand up.

"If we get to the cars, I can change shirts."

"I think we both need to," she said as she helped him to his feet. She grabbed her sweater in her free hand so she could throw it away later, and looked down at her own shirt. She was almost as bloody as he was.

"If I walk into the Hyperion like this, and anyone sees me... hell, Angel would probably be able to smell the blood on me from a mile down the street."

She hooked her arm around his waist to help steady him as they started to walk. Luckily the car wasn't too far away. Far enough, but manageable. She hoped.

"Maybe he'll think you tried to kill me. It'll put a big smile on his face, i'm sure."

He kept his eyes focused on the car, ignoring the pebbels that dug into his bare feet. His sandles were still on the beach. Right now, wasn't caring that much. Some poor bastard would enjoy them.

They got to the car and Lindsey leaned against it. "Keys are in my back pocket."

Cordelia ditched the sweater as they passed a garbage can. There was a moment of regret, as it was a nice sweater, but she was used to her clothes getting trashed on a regular basis by now. At least it hadn't been expensive.

"I'm not sure he'd buy that, but I can always try if I have to. Though then I'd have to explain what you were doing in Malibu."

She got the keys as directed and unlocked the door for him, then waited for him to change. Her own car wasn't far, but he was still a little unsteady, so she didn't want to go too far yet.

Not moving his right arm at all, he tried to pull his shirt off. The blood was sticking the the almost closed mound, so he gritted and pulled it off, biting back the choked scream as it started to bleed a bit again, but stopped almost instantly.

"You got that first aid kit? Be better to clean this up so i don't ruin two shirts..."

"Yeah, sure. I'll get it."

It only took her a minute or so to hurry over to her car and retrieve it. Once she's returned, she set the kit on the roof of his car and got out some gauze and some alcohol pads.

"At least it probably won't hurt too much," she said, looking over the mostly-closed wound before carefully wiping one of the pads over it to remove the blood.

He hissed a bit, looking away, trying to think about what was happening in his head.

He should tell her. Because he knew that after having seen this, she wasn't going to stop asking questions.

"This isn't the first time something like this happened to me," he said softly, not looking at her. "That day you called, and asked why my throat was raspy... I don't know what's doing this, but I'm not appreciating it."

She tried to gentle her touch some more when he hissed in pain, but alcohol was going to hurt no matter what. Best she could do was be quick. She finished the front part of his shoulder, then moved around to get the back while he spoke.

"So something's hurting you without having to actually touch you. Sounds like a demon to me. Something with some kind of psychic ability to remotely cause harm? Cause whatever shot you, there was no bullet. I would have seen it when you were healing, unless it's still in your shoulder, but that's not what happens when Angel heals a gunshot wound. The bullet always gets pushed out. It's kind of cool, actually."

She realized she was babbling and stopped herself. Talking about Angel probably wasn't the best idea right now.

"Who do you think would be doing this to you? Disgruntled client?"

She finished cleaning his shoulder and started taping gauze over the wound, though it was mostly healed at that point.

Lindsey looked out over the ocean, half listening to her as he thought about it himself. "I dunno. The demon community, after... some stuff I've been doing... they haven't been bothering my much. Maybe I was wrong thinking that they respected me in some ways."

That whole seedling incident was something that gave Lindsey high pretige in the underworld. But could somenoe see him as a threat instead?

He winced as she put pressure on his shoulder for the gauze.
