Realized yesterday that I hadn't mentioned an interesting thing or two here, so here'tis.
Last month, I got to see the Top Chef Season 4 winner Stephanie Izard do a demo at the local library! http://stephanieizard.com/?q=node/354#comments is her blog post for that day, and includes recipies for two of the dishes served. I made a half-batch of the brown sugar cakes over the weekend, and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-good! (sweet as all get out, but very tasty!)
Also, I got called for jury duty, and ended up on the jury! Was an interesting several days, with a trial that shall we say didn't have a Law & Order budget or plot. ;-) Despite a rather murky set of characters and evidence, we ended up getting a verdict that was (imho) correct, and removed what was most likely a fairly bad operator from the streets for a long, long time.
We had a decent crop of crocus come up, although they were fading even before this weekends big wet snowfall. Worst part of the snowstorm was that it broke/damaged the lilac bush in back. *cries*
