I'm sorry I didn't write a reaction post for 12x2, but i honestly didn't have much to say. I really liked the ep though :) It's just that after 12 years, you run out of things to say, even if you still love the show, y'know? Say, that rhymed :)
Anyway, onto "The Foundry." Not doing a cut this time because this will be a shortish entry; mainly i just want to talk about that last scene. The rest of the ep was fine--ghost ep will always be my favorite flavor of Supernatural--but that last scene...ugh. Dagger to the heart. I really like how Dabb has brought Show back to being about the characters, but giving the boys their mom back and then taking her away again? That's cruel, especially to Dean. Yes i know Sam is affected, too, what with the FINALLY getting the chance to know his mom and having to put that bonding on hold again and all, but Dean...he's crushed. He tried again to keep his family together, and yet again, he's failed. Even though we know he did nothing wrong, you KNOW he's going to blame himself. And here i thought his character was finally getting his emotional groove back. Shoulda known it wouldn't last. When he stepped away from Mary's hug, he took a giant step back from any self-esteem gains he's made. I feel for the guy, and of course the Ackting was excellent, but come on, writers--Dean blaming himself is as old as Sam getting tortured. They've both come a long way just to have you turn them around again.
At least the jerky scene made me smile. What did you think of the end scene and/or the ep as a whole?
oh bitch bitch bitch,
supernatural,
can i get a hell yeah?
