So when I heard there was an ep about wrestling coming up, I gotta admit, I wasn't all that jazzed. I don't mind wrestling, but it's never been my thing, y'know? So I wasn't expecting much from the ep. I am so very glad to admit I was wrong to doubt :) That ep was awesome! Both of the boys fanboying around their childhood idol (Dean) and childhood crush (Sam, and no, he didn't bring up the poster over the bed, LOL), Dean bonding with that idol and then, later, giving him the patented convincing!Dean speech, leading to the idol killing the demon and accepting his punishment, just as Sam and Dean have done in the past...WOW. It hit all the right notes. It was a joy to see the boys enjoying themselves for once and, even better, for someone Dean respects to say something encouraging/relatable for once instead of calling him a crybaby. Yay! The writers are learning!*
I also love that Dean is now more determined than ever to get Cas back, ice the devil, send Amara packing, all that stuff. It's such a great contrast between world-weary Dean at the start of the hour (and you know it's bad when he ADMITS that he's burned out) and determined, kick-it-in-the-ass!Dean at the end. To quote the man himself, sweet merciful awesome :)
And BTW, if anyone out there finds an LJ gif of Dean jumping and putting his arms in the air, like he did watching the match, please send it my way :) I'll give full credit, of course.
Moving on: I really do love Misha's performance as Luci. He's doing a BRILLIANT job, although I confess that I miss Cas. I hope we get Cas back, and soon, but we probably won't really see him again until the end of the season. Ah well.
I am glad Crowley got to turn the tables a bit last night, even though it was painfully obvious that that demon was doing a double-cross. But I like that Crowley had the rod (that we can't handle, HA!) of Aaron and got to use it, even if it was only once. I was talking with a few people on Twitter last night and I shared my theory that maybe God planned on all of these "hand of God" objects to be a one-time-use only thing. If they worked all the time, the possessor of that object could "be" God, in a sense, but if it only works once, it's only for emergencies, and that would be okay. Now if people would stop using them and try it on Amara for once ;) Just thought of something else--maybe when Balthazar broke up these famous weapons, they lost some of their power, which is why they only work once...? Who knows. I guess we'll find out.**
I don't have much else. I just REALLY liked it and REALLY want to watch it again. What did you think of the ep? Yay? Nay? Hay? Let me know :)
*Subject to change, as we all very well know.
**Or we won't, because this Show just LOVES its loose strings...
