Look, I'm still around. Sort of.

Hahaha why do I have a livejournal. And a paid account at that, though I've let my extra userpics run out which seems to have resulted in livejournal uhh...deactivating my default icon? Come on guys, that should be on the list of keepers.

I think I have gotten and lost a job since I last posted any updates on this thing, and that was a couple months ago. So now I'm back in the eternal search for a job where they are okay with me not having experience. I'm sure I've ranted about the bullshit that is the job market before, so let's skip that today.

I've basically been stuck at home for the past month because at some point in late August I went down to Fort Worth to meet up with my dad for lunch, and I managed to get into a wreck. It totally wasn;t my fault, some lady just pulled out into my lane without looking and I couldn't possibly avoid her. So now the front right of my car is all messed up and, since body shops apparently just will not open on weekends and mom works during the week, I have not been able to get it fixed. In over a month. It still runs, but it makes me nervous to drive it. We think the smashed in part might scrape against the tire or something. It might be paranoia but still, ugh. I've been driving it to interviews, because I can't exactly STOP going to those, and I have another tomorrow, but man. I just really wish I could do it in a less broken car.

Of course after this happened dad was all "you know there is a time when you should start looking for a new car" as if THAT IS EVER AN OPTION TO EVEN WASTE TIME CONSIDERING FOR AN UNEMPLOYED PERSON.

Yesterday mom was going to go with me to the shop because she had a doctor appointment, but that ended up not happening either. Here's the lovely story from her facebook:

How today went - by me.
Got up. Went to Dr. appointment. Got my drugs changed. Need an MRI. Went home for 30 minutes. Got in car to go to work. Car no startie. WTF car? You were just running a half hour ago. Made arrangements for tow to shop. Took Shannon to work and used her car to get to my work. Her car died while I was in the middle lane on 635 at 35E. Called cops to get me off the damned highway. Call another shop and arranged a tow. Decided to try and start the car again and it started. Called shop to cancel tow. Took car to shop and walked to work (it was just around the corner). Fuck you day.
Got a call from the shop MY car was at. Car got there and worked just FINE. Fuck YOU car.
Second car shop calls. Needs a $700 repair. Shan will take it to her step-dad to fix so I paid the diagnostic charge and picked up car after work Drove and picked her up at work after stopping for 20 minutes in Grapevine to let car cool off. The fuel pump needs replacing and when the car gets hot it doesn't like to feed the engine.
Shannon drove us to my car and I paid the tow bill. They didn't charge me for the diagnostics they did. Nice. I drove my car home and she drove to her mom's house to drop off her car and borrow mom's truck until her car is fixed.
In a nutshell, this house went from 3 cars to one in the span of 2 early morning hours and while everything has turned out okay by the end of it I'd just like to say... This day can just die in a fire.

Sooo yeah. This is our life in cars right now. Other than that, everything is same as usual. Still perpetually unemployed, still a giant nerd, still too awkward to make friends/talk to old friends. Maybe I will try to update this thing more regularly, but I still kind of feel like I don't really have much to say and there's not many people left to care anyway, so. I will return to my usual waffling over making food or going out in my broken car to get some, and probably end up not eating at all for another hour or so. I lead a healthy lifestyle. :|
