This week in video games #3: Still going!

Jan 24, 2010 10:04

Haha, why am I still doing this, I'm pretty sure it's exceedingly boring to everyone. I'm just trying to have something to say, since I have no life to tell you about! :D;

Final Fantasy Dissidia
Not much exciting going on here. Basically just going through all the stages again building up my levels so I can move on. Finished everyone but Cloud, but the thing is I went through part of Cloud's and kind of dropped my PSP while it was off, knocking the battery thing open, and that apparently makes it not remember where I was. I didn't want to bother messing with him more so I just played with someone else. When I pick it up again, I'll be moving forward, and hopefully not getting my ass kicked this time! Also randomly got a bunch of alternate looks, and while most of them are lame palette swaps, there were a couple that made me pretty happy. Like Squall's SEED uniform. And why did I never notice that Advent Children Cloud is basically wearing half a jacket before? Seriously, what is that?

Oh yes, I finally did the data install thing too. It makes load times much faster, but that's not the important thing. The important thing is the CHOCOBOCO LOAD SCREEN! XD And the buttons that made moogle and chocobo noises! That amused me far more than it should have, really.

War of the Lions
Kind of had a feud with this one this week because I got stuck for FOREVER in the fight at the Golgo...the Gallows. Gaffgarion was being a total whore. I stuck to it though and eventually triumphed, then moved on to the fight at the gates, which really was not as difficult as people have been making it sound somehow. I might have retried it once or twice, or not at all, I don't even remember. I thought I was going to have a lot more trouble with the fight against C...Cthulu...Chipotle...Cardinal Oogie-Boogie, especially after through the power of DOOM he basically killed my entire party within seconds of eachother, but it only took a few more tries after that to get through. Somehow. Now, on to Chapter 3, whatever that entails! I really don't remember much of anything at all from the first time I played this game, it's like a new experience! :D;

Suikoden Tierkreis
I HAVE SHARKS! omg it's exciting. I think my favorite is the singing pink one! Because OMG SO CUTE. FFFFFFF. HAPPY SHARK. Uhhh other than that...I guess some shit went down, the Magelord was being a douche, so we went and freed Astrasia and hung out there for a while, which turned out to not be such a fantastic plan, since it got our books stolen. And then Liu backstory! I finally figured out why I like him so much, he is basically a Bookman. A rebellious one. And now he's giving me Rabi vibes, which is possibly ridiculous.

Tales of Vesperia
I only just played a little of this tonight. Went and got myself a boat, played around on a spooooooooky ghost ship (is there any kind of ghost ship that ISN'T cursed, Raven?) and then wandered around aimlessly because I wasn't really paying attention to the scene where they were explaining how the boat works and where exactly our destination was. I somehow managed to get there though. Coliseum city, woo, I guess? I don't know, I was pretty tired, so I stopped once I got there.

Eternal Sonata
I haven't played this on my own in forever, I kind of floated off of it when my brother started a game up. He's back for the semester, so he went and finished the game off. The game is really pretty, it has an interesting concept, and I guess some interesting things going on with the battle system? Though the hit points are the biggest numbers ever, and I'm not sure that's really necessary. But as far as the story goes? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It seems like a lot of that overblown existential nonsense the Japanese love, with a hint of WAR IS BAD GUYS and I really have no idea what was going on at all at the end. And then the localization team decided that they didn't really need to put subtitles on the part where everybody's talking when the credits are going, so I don't know what that was all about since it was set to Japanese voices, and THEN they decided they shouldn't subtitle that bit at the end with the....snail and the caterpillar? SO EVEN MORE COMPLETE CONFUSION. I guess I might have to try to pick up my game that's set on English sometime just so I can see what was going on and...probably not become any less confused!

In other news, our housemate is finally moving out, and he took his huge tv that we had set up in the living room with him. I never cared about stuff like that before, but now that I got so used to it, my ten year old tv looks so small and pathetic out there. All the portraits on Tales of Vesperia look so tiny and it's sad! I hear that he's going to try to get us a replacement fairly nice tv, so I guess that's good, but it's probably sad that that has become something I want when before I never really cared about that sort of thing. The other day I realized I never played Katamari on that tv, and it made me kind of sad too for some reason. Dammit. XD;
