Ch-Ch-Changes...

I'm somebody's mother.
That is, I'm two somebody's mother. A lot has happened in the last 5 years.
I married my boyfriend of 4 1/2 years in 2011. That same year, I had a successful pregnancy and welcomed my son into the world. I became a stay-at-home mom and left my job at the bakery.
In early 2013, our house burned down. It was nobody's fault; some wires shorted out in the attic and the insulation quickly caught fire. We were all home and it was during the day, so we safely evacuated. From the driveway, I called 911 and said something I never thought I would say in a serious way- "Uh, hello, um, my roof is on fire".
About three weeks before the fire, I discovered I was once again expecting, so there I was, in my front yard as the house burned, barefoot and pregnant. It's hilarious to me in retrospect.
At the end of the year we welcomed a second son, and with his birth, I finally feel whole. My first two pregnancies ended early in miscarriage, and I didn't realize how deeply that affected my self-esteem and body-image.
In early 2014, our house was rebuilt on the old foundation, and that about ends the adventure. I still stay at home with the kids, who are 3 and 1, and that's pretty much my entire life.
Future posts will likely be about my kids, or my life at home. I don't get out much.
