close enough for gov't work?

dammit.

the state department's website is down. which means that i might not get registered for this sitting of the Foreign Service Officer Exam.

on one hand, DAMMIT.

on the other hand, it sits again in about 6 months, which would give me time to do all the reading i'd intended to do before this test. plus i'd have more time to write the freaking essay questions that are now part of the registration process. seriously, this thing has begun to look like a college application!

i guess we'll see if the site goes back up sometime today in time for me to write responses to 5 questions along the lines of such classics as: "list up to four (4) skills and qualifications you have and explain why they'd make you a good FSO", or "as a foreign service officer you will encounter many obstacles. please describe a challenge you have faced in the workplace and tell us how you dealt with."

is it bad that i'm kinda hoping the reg site doesn't work for the rest of the day? i'd get to sleep in on saturday!

ETA: I just took another look at the site. They're offering the test several times a year now, and the next testing window is November 1-8, 2008, so I'm thinking that would be a better time to take the test. (and this time i'll mark my calendar!)
