You GUYS.
I am so excited to talk about this stuff. I've been meaning to write this for AGES. I'd been hearing good things about the color tattoo shadows, and finally went out and bought a few:
Pomegranate Punk and
Tough as Taupe. As for colors, I chose these two because 1) the pomegranate was a lovely berry color that doesn't get done well in eye color often, and 2) the taupe was a nice neutral that was actually matte, which can sometimes be hard to find at the drugstore.
They were really pushing the staying power of these, which made me want to test them. As i'm sure some of you are familiar with, I am a frequent victim of The Dreaded Crease. Regular powder shadows on me disappear into a tiny line in the crease of my eye within as little as an hour at times.
I have tried a few different bases (i'll talk about those another time), but I was very curious to see if these could hold up to their claims, so I tried these with NO primer. When applying them, i was pleased that the texture was smooth, almost like a thin gel, but did not feel overly wet. I used my fingers to apply, but i imagine it would work well with a brush for more precise application. I felt there was adequate time to blend and smooth the color around to the shape I wanted before it felt really "set' in place.
WOW. This is the first eye color I've ever used that I put on, wore out for a full day (even sweated a bit), came home, and found it STILL IN PLACE. I had to actually remove it with makeup wipes.
One place i will note a minor flaw, is if you try using them as a base for powder shadows? While I found the products did mostly stay in place, but i started getting a fine line of color (that was definitely the powder shadow) at my crease line after around 8-10 hours. So its not perfect, but on their own? Pretty awesome. I would also tout these for ease of use. If you aren't into complex makeup application, a smudge of these on your lids with a finger will give you well pigmented color that stays in place, with very little effort or prep.
So yeah, i'm quite impressed with these, and planning to buy more of the colors when I have an opportunity (or extra coupons.) ;)
and with that, my non-made-up eyes are burning, so I think its bed time. -_-
