My Turn: 2015 in Review

Dec 31, 2015 06:45

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. OH..Sorry, Mr. Dickens.

2015 started out well;

Jan: I tendered my resignation from MFF's Food services, and applied for other jobs within the con.
Went to Memphis and hung out with some of the locals and partied, including some Louie mascotting there on Beale St. as well.

Feb: I went to the TFF OF DEATH!!!!! I booked an extra night so I could see a con city for once, and also to see the Chuck Jones exhibit at a museum in FW, only to see the area get about 2" of sleet Sunday afternoon, which shut down the metro D-FW area. Even tho it had almost completely melted by the next morning, everything was closed thru Tues. I was the only person able to drive the speed limits on the highways there. RC and I laughed about it for weeks :) I also debued Quasi V3, and went to the Femme photo shoot. Was a nice change; I got some cute pics taken :)

March/April: I had to return to D-FW to install 2 trainers at Bell. Was there for almost 2.5 weeks, and the installation went well. We had some free time, so I got in touch with Very, and went to see the aforementioned Chuck Jones exhibit. Was amazing to say the least. They had a bunch of storeyboards, cels, and other artifacts about his artistic life.  Also went to see the Mets plat the Rangers in the last pre-season game of the year. Mets won handily. Starters: DeGrom ve Verritt. Ironic, because Lerritt wa a former Mets farmhand, that was taken in a Rule 5 draft. Then, we got him back a few months later!

Went to StL for the first time in years to play the Red Ninja for LEGOWORLD. Had a good time. My first character gig since last Dec.

Bought a riding lawnmower. Fuck you grass :P

May: I'd heard about the "Arsenal of Democracy" flyover of Wash DC, and thought about going. I'd missed the last huge airplane gathering back in '07 (was in Dayton..100+ P-51s showed up and had a mass flyover). So, when plane tix went down, I hit it hard! The trip was mostly free: I had some credit on SW, had a hotel room free with points from the work trip, so all I had to pay for was food and a subway card. The flyover was well organised, and fun to see. It was also the first time since 9/11 that airplanes were allowed over DC itself. About 100K people watched it along the Mall. I stood by the Wash monument and took a shit tim of pics. Oh..Fifi again :D Also hit the Air n Space Museum (BOTH of them), the American history Museum, saw the Constitution and Declaraetion of independance, and wish I had a Fitbit to see how much I'd walked on those 2 days. I'd guess I broke my OSH record easily.

June: Wound up playing Louie for the entire Fest by myself, with a hyper 13 year old as my guide. Was totally pissed off about it, and told my bosses such. They promised changes for the net year; we'll see how that goes. I played Spree for RFL again, and walked 25 laps in the rain in him, then a few more out of suit. Had blisters the size od silver dollars on both feet from walking in wet paws :P

July: celebrated my 52nd birthday. Went to Oshkosh as usual, and had a fun time. It was cool again, and no rain! Sae 3 F-35s there...NONE OF THEM FLEW!!! I swear they were cardbord cutouts. Your tax $$$ hard at work, people. But Fifi *ahhhhs*

Aug: Nothing much hapened. Was a nice month to relax. Was brought on as MFF's Fursuit Lounge manager. Should be easy, right?

Sept: Went to Skunkfest, this time with RC as my photographer. Also got a friend to show in his skunk costume. And was delighted to see Skunkie there as well. The 3 of us were terrors together :D But we entertained everyone, and RC had a fun time too. Spent the night at a hotel in Columbus, and went to dinner with Rob and Truegrave.

Was in the parade again for our local Pridefest. Yay! Wienermobile showed up too XD

Got together with some people from work, and got into a Fall softball league. We won -a- game! And it was the worst one I'd pitched all year too. Go figure :P

Mets started their run for the Pennant.

Oct. LAFFBall ended on a fairly sour note, as few people showed up to play. Even tho they had the schedule for 6 months, some decided to have a golf tourney that day.. I wasn't happy. As a whole, the games werent attended well, and there was some strife that I wasn't prepared for. But they will continue in 2016.

Mets beat the Dodgers...then the Cubs to win the Pennant! WHOOOOO

Nov:  Mets lose to the Royals in the World Series. Damn. :( But still...no one thought we'd get there. MFF prep time.

Dec: MFF! November and I were in charge of the Fursuit Lounge, and altho it was simple enough, I found that fursuiters are slobs, and don't give a shit about anyone else but themselves. So, every 2 hours, I was in there cleaning up the trash and tossing their dirty towels away. JFC...clean up after yourselves. And stop hogging the fans! :P The con went well, altho I'm not popufur enough to have many pics taken of me, I did find a few. Had fun in the parade, and went out 2x to Hofbrau Haus; first time was with friends. Second time, we took Aragorn there for his birthday, and since they are fursuit friendly, I went in Fargo and was MOBBED!!!

RC wound up laid up in the hospital for 8 days due to a hip bleed. I took care of his bunnies, and had another bunch of allergy attacks.

Had a nice family Xmas with mom n Aragorn.

That's it; I hope things are this good for 2016. Highlights will include another TFF trip,  and one to England for CFz. That trip includes a stopover in Iceland!!

Oh, while I have neglected my own LJ, I do read everyone else's. I had to get a facebook account, but with the exception of Skunktember, I haven't really posted on it either.
