Some of the locals were supposed to join me today at fursuit sledding. This would have been my first chance at fursuiting since MFF. I sent an email to the list on Friday evening, giving a link to Google maps where we'd be, a time, etc. Even told them no suits needed.
At least 6 people said yes, so I thought it was be a fun event today. But then Furry manners kicked in.
I got there about 5 min late, and after almost hitting a bunch of dumbasses blocking my attempts at not getting stuck in the snow. I sat in my car and waited. And waited...and waited. After 15 min, I texted the group saying I was there and lots of kids were here. And I waited..no reply.
25 min in, I texted again..finally one wrote back...we're too busy cleaning all of a sudden. And another said he'd just woken up from a nap...be there in a few. RC said he'd show in about a half hour.
So I waited...and waited. After an HOUR there, I said fuck it, going home. RC said he'd be there in 15 min..the other guy still couldn't find where we were even after I told him to Google it.
So, even tho everyone had 2 days to get stuff ready, site found, no one cared until the last second (RC is cleared, since he hadda work) But really? None of the others could take 5 min out of their time and tell me what was going on...after I pleaded with them to come out? I wasn't going to go out alone...not with all the people that were there (a bunch of teens and 20 something does not make for a fun no-escort day).
So I just went home, and turned on the football games. I don't even have the motivation to put up the Skunkmas tree.
I really LOVE to fursuit in public; it give me just about the only happiness I get nowadays. But what really hurts is that if a former local said to do it, everyone woulda jumped to be the first one there, without hesitation. Yet, I can't get people to come to my event, or, for that matter, get invited to any other meet, party, etc.
Thank you, Furry Manners. I hope you get a lump of coal for Christmas.
