Having slept and showered, it was time to see about a rental car and getting myself to work.

So easy to say. Apparently, nearly impossible to accomplish without huge amounts of hassle and headaches.

Anything more than 5 mins past the hour IS an hour late at the new office. So if you are going to be 6 minutes late, you might as well wait until the next hour starts and just try to be on time for that segment.

With this in mind, I knew I was going to be a bit late, so I figured I would just aim for 9am.
When that hour came, I was on my way to yet another car rental lot trying to find one that had a car and wanted to be helpful.
It is a sign of how dazed I still was from the accident that I went to an Enterprise car rental (instead of National, where I have membership) and quite vocally complained about the rude behavior of the lady at the Enterprise car rental I had gone to first. I admit, I am quite embarrassed looking back. I had, at some point, gotten confused and thought I was at the National Rental office instead. Partially this is because I kept trying to direct my landlord to the National but she somehow kept taking me to Enterprise locations.

It ended up working out well enough. They gave me a ride to work while try tried to find a rental for me and delivered the rental to my office. Of course they signed me up for their rewards program, so my rental won't earn me anything with the people who gave me the Dodge Avenger when I first got to Cali, but such is life.

Nothing has gone well this week. I think the theme can be defined as SERIOUSLY SUCKY.

Oh, and I got my first repair cost estimate on my car: $2,001

In other news, I did manage to eat food at lunch. My first actual food since lunch before the accident.
I also managed to drive home safely with no panic or other major issues. My brain did keep replaying (with vivid detail) the moment of impact when the kid dented in my windshield.
I was tense, there was a lot of stress, but I did not drive like a frightened person. I maintained the posted speed limit and, pretty much, drove normally.
