I've been kind of apartment browsing. I haven't actually looked at any places, because finding a place to go is overwhelming. There are an endless number of options within a half-hour of my office, but of course not many of them are affordable.

I was pretty set on going to Brooklyn-I've always wanted to live there-and we found a really nice area that's an hour away from Manhattan. Which, okay, let's put this in perspective: Right now, my commute is two hours one-way. So even an hour sounds nice. And another twenty minutes or so in the other direction of Coney Island, which means I can easily get to the beach in the summer.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how dumb it is to "move closer to work" and still be an hour away.

Now I'm thinking about Queens again, which would give me a twenty-minute commute, tops. And that's... really nice. And Astoria is mostly people my age, which is also appealing. And now instead of throwing away money on rent, I'm considering buying a co-op. It's a nice compromise between buying and renting.

All I know is, I really want to move in the spring because I'm kind of done with this not-having-a-life thing.
