A coworker of mine recently complimented my appearance and said, "That trainer of yours is doing a good job." And I laughed, thanked her, and went on my way.

And then when I thought about it, I realized how little influence he's had lately. I mean, yeah, I needed someone to kick me into gear in the beginning. But when you only talk to someone once a month, and he has less-than-stellar communication skills? Uh, I've been doing this on my own.

I originally planned on a six-month contract, and somehow we're on month eight. And I have to figure out a nice way to say "I don't want to do this anymore." My schedule is impossible, anyway-I can only go 5:30 at night, due to the bus schedule, and it's a pain. And he still doesn't get this, either. You'd think realize the number of times I say, "I can't make 6:00; my bus leave at seven."

But anyway.

I've started my own little routine: Twice a week I do the gym (twenty minutes on the bike, then alternate legs & arms the other days) and once weekly is pool day (I'm loving pool day. It's the highlight of my week. There's a sauna in the locker room). Every morning when I roll out of bed I do crunches and squats, and at night I attempt tricep dips and push-ups. I still can't do a proper push-up, but I'm getting there. My arms have always been a bit weak.

And really, I came up with this routine on my own. Every month the trainer says he'll send me something (four months ago I said I wanted to work on my arms), and he never emailed me, so I can't see the point of paying for something I can easily do by myself.

Story of my life.
