I received my 5-year recognition certificate at work today, which was quite unexpected since my anniversary isn't for another two weeks. It makes me feel special and important. It's nicely propped up on my bookshelf where everyone can see it, haha
Sometimes I still don't believe I've been here that long, to be honest. Where does time go? I think of my time in grad school, and it doesn't feel like that long ago since I was wandering the streets of Brooklyn or stressing over future employment. I'm glad that's all done with (well, I'd still like to wander the streets of Brooklyn), but it's fascinating to consider what's behind me. We can add five years in the workforce to that now.
Also, my sister & I just booked a trip to Ireland for my 30th birthday, which feels unbelievable. I need to renew my passport, stat. Somehow the plans went from "4-day domestic vacation" to "7-day trip to Ireland." This is insane. I haven't officially been granted the time off yet, but don't tell anyone.
