so I went to NY with Samantha Hughes last week.

things I did:

- saw Le Miz and Hamlet
- watched The Holiday and Dream Girls
- went to central park 3 times
- went to the met (note to self the Met is officially your favorite museum)
- went to Times Square almost too much
- hit up soho
-got on the wrong line, in the wrong direction, and almost ended up in the Bronx
- went to St.Marks and bought Neutral Milk Hotel's "avery island," nylons from "the sock man," a silver leaf necklas, and $10 plastic shoes.
- ate at the Australia and got their delicious icecream
- saw the Balto statue in Central Park
-experienced global warming: Jan = hot dayz and rainy nights
- went on the Sex and the City tour (touristy I knoooow, but atleast I got to see all of Manhattan and a free Magnolia cupcake)
- watched too much family guy at my brother's apt.
- walked around upper east side (park avenue apt...oh good lord, they are beautiful)

overall a very very wonderful trip.  I did a lot of touristy things but in the end I'm pretty glad I did because it made me see more of New York.  The only thing I hated was how stingy I was with money- mostly because I was with someone who was using their very own hard earned money and I felt like a spoiled brat.  So I tried to compensate by being "careful" with my money ("frugal" is most likely the word).  I didn't get that feeling that everyone was isolated this time around.  which was wonderful, i didn't feel like I was in a cold city.  I was sad to leave New York and get back to reality.  which is why this week suuuucks.  but none of that.

Oh! I also bought a record from the subterranean- Gladys Knight and the Pip's "If I were your woman"

probably one of my favorite records out of my very small collection.  Motown.  oh, motown.  some of the best bass lines and beats I've ever heard. it's become one of my favorite things to do- dance around stupidly, listening to "One step away."  I think Motown is my new favorite genre.  i feel like a gay 40 year old man.
