My So-Called Life

This weekend was really fun. Friday I received the DVD of My So-Called Life that I had only ordered the day before. It's weird because I was asking friends of mine who are only two years younger than me if they remembered it, but none of them had even heard of it! And yet I then asked friends of mine who are the same age as me and they went nuts when I mentioned it. I remember back when I was in High School it was like the number 1 series to watch. And it was way before Dawson's Creek and all those other problems-of-a-teenager based programmes. And way way before the OC. I don't watch the OC, so I won't comment on that...

Saturday I think I played a bunch of games on the Gamecube and then after dinner went to Discord with Chris,
the_Mart, Murphy and Andy. Not that Martin and I had intended to go to Discord, no. We were planning to get in for free, as you can before 10pm, but when we got there at 3 minutes to 10 it was access denied from the ratty bouncers.

So that left Martin and I with a dilemma. Do we pay money to go in there and listen to the whiney music, or do we try going somewhere else? We bumped into tall Pete who Chris and I gave a birthday card to. Tall Pete was planning on going to see Zane Lowe, but that never really happened. He ended up enjoying himself so much in Discord that he just seemed to forget, despite my regular reminders. Oh well.

After checking out the other options, Martin and I caved and paid our good money to go be bored (or so we thought).

Early on I went and requested a few songs that had been running through my head recently, and funny enough they played The Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" for me, which was excellent because really that had been the theme of the early evening.

After that I went off to find Mart again, and he was surrounded! Fortunately, it was by some very friendly people that he knew off of LJ.
Jaimesunholy and
Lezek to be precise, plus their friends. It was great to hang out with them, especially as Christina and Dan also love tea! How great it is to meet people who appreciate more than just the "English Breakfast" variety!

So the evening was really quite pleasant in the end. Yes, I am still talking about Discord!!

Sunday was designated the long-planned Eddie Izzard marathon. (About time). Sarah, Isabel, Hannah, Chris and myself were present to watch some of the Eddie Izzard dvds I had bought last month. We sat down and prepared to die of laughter. And we came close. Goodness me, he gives some of the funniest and most accurate observations ever. We also ordered Chinese food, hooray! I pigged out and got honeyed ribs, chicken in plum sauce and pineapple and cashew-nut fried rice. And what with all the dishes the others ordered too, when the food was delivered we discovered we had been mistaken for 9 people, as there were two bags of prawn crackers and 9 fortune cookies, plus a bottle of drink all thrown in for free. What pigs!! Just as well all that laughing burned off the calories!
