Harry rushes out of the exam to the infirmary, looking for professor McGonagall, but she's been trasferred to St. Mungos. The next step is to grab Ron and Hermione, inform them of Sirius alleged capture, override any attempts at rational thought or common sense on their parts, and start planning.
Ginny and Luna who happen by join in, and a plan to contact Sirius, including smashing up the transfiguration department (possibly) and sneaking into Umbridge's office is concocted and carried out.
But Grimmauld place is empty, Kreacher being typically unco-operative as to Sirius's whereabouts - only making it clear that Sirius is gone. Thats all Harry manages to get, before being captured by Umbridge, and her goons of the inqiusitorial squad.
Umbridge wastes no time, and summons Snape and Veritaserum - only to be informed, to her highly unatractively petulant rage, that he's run out. Harry does his best to convey whats going on to Snape, who sweeps out leaving behind only possibly the nicest thing he's said in all the books. (Don't strangle Longbottom, there might be paperwork.)
Umbridge soon goes all Bond villain (It was me who sent the dementors!) as she plans to use the cruciatus curse on them - but Hermione breaks, and begins to tell Umbridge a wonerfully emoted pack of terrific nonsense. But Umbridge seems to buy it, and leaving the Slytherins behind, they all march off after Hermione, headed for parts unknown.
Well, this starts the very last week of acad summaries, and is my last one - it's been great fun, and made see the books quite a different way. Due to a collection of RL circumstances of varying absurdity, I won't be continuing on to HBP - wishing you all a brilliant time digging out all it's good bits, a chapter at a time!
And Happy Independence Day, USAians!
