Okay, nonbelievers, scoff if you will. But I experienced an incredibly interesting morning. I returned to Chinese medicine after recently seeing my very capable Western Medicine internist who seemed clueless about why my knees suddenly were weak and hurting after being on the evil antibiotic, Levaquin. He advised I see a neurologist.(I also am having several other physical problems, not necessarily related to the antibiotic side effect list.)
My friendly comic-acupuncturist Richard Peck, listened to my woes and had me lie down on my back, holding my palms against my hips. He tried to move my right arm away from my hip and could not easily. He commented that I was pretty strong.
He then had me hold a small vial of something in my left hand and repeated the attempt to pull my right arm away from my hip. It flew away! I had little strength!
He gave me a different vial to hold, repeated the effort and I was "strong" again. He asked me read the label on the vial. It was marked "neutral".
He again had me hold the other vial and again I had almost no strenth in the other arm. I read that vial. "Levaquin"!!!!!
No, he had not left the room and secretly 'created' this vial for the appearance of voodoo. Apparently, his office has had other complaints about this antibiotic, and they had mixed this solution from a sample.
He then had me hold the vial while he inserted the acupuncture needles in various parts of my body. Does it hurt? Almost never. Only occasionally is there a tiny little prick and then only when a sensitive area is involved (tender part of foot, etc.). NO big deal!! I would take 5,000 acupuncture needles over one hour of post-surgical pain.
This test/technique is one recently discovered by a lady (in China??). He is returning to another seminar of hers in 2 weeks. She also has discovered a way to use these solutions of 'offending' substances in the cure. Non-invasive, except for a pin prick. Time will tell if this is successful. But if it is, without the benefit of surgery and painful long-term therapy, she should get a freakin Nobel prize! But there would be no way. Not in our closed-minded Western skeptical society.
So far, my knees are about 10-20% better, 2 hours later. We'll see. Stay tuned.
