Good - the AS Art trip to NebAmun's tomb paintings at the British Museum yesterday went well despite me being stressed and out of my head a little. Having to deal with staffing problems back at base when you are travelling into central London on the tube, and your 2IC is having an arm waving fit over the mobile phone, is not the best start to the day. However Brian Sayers (our art lecturer) and the students seemed pleased with the talk I did on the hieroglyphs and Egyptian. So did a few of the BM guards who wandered over to listen and a large bunch of tourists who hung about too. I was feeling a bit of a spectacle. It was only sort of about half way through it that it all sort of hit me. I was actually doing a proper talk in the actual British Museum with actual New Kingdom paintings. I should have been overawed I suppose but I know the place so well I am very comfortable with it. Even comfortable enough to make jokes about why the BM hasn't ever carbon dated
Ginger. Doing stuff like that makes me only want to do more.
Difficult - Landlord sent me a text yesterday to say that Rentokil had been back to the house and the mice are not eating his poison. His theory was that now the doors are blocked the mice we have in our flats are stuck there and they have alternative food so they are not eating his poison. I do not believe him for one moment. We know they are running between flats under the floorboards and up and down the pipes between floors. The mice in my flat seem to have abated for the time being however, and they have been eating my poison with great gusto so hopefully some of those might actually be dead. I now have a glue trap and more snap traps (one of which bit me!) and intend, like Branko and JL downstairs, to keep up the good fight.
Being pissed off - its a week since that hole in the road. Its been filled in and its been standing there for two days with a brand new road surface and barriers still round it. I had to walk into work again today and was late again too.
