Michael tended to be alert at sounds in the house -- one never knew when something nasty would have followed him home. He awoke at the sound of someone coming into the house. Beside him, his wife stirred, and he whispered to her, "I'll see what it is. If it's trouble, get the children out of here."

He took his robe, and crept downstairs, and into the kitchen. He sighed with relief, when he saw it was only his student. "Tamahome?"

The teen started guiltily. "Yes?" he replied quietly, turning to face Michael and keeping his injured arms in the shadows. "Is something wrong?" His eyes were bright despite the dark smudge of dirt on his cheekbone below them.

"I just wanted to make sure it was-" Michael paused, noticing that Tamahome looked a little beaten up. "Are you all right?"

Cheeks pinking with guilt (the boy being crap at hiding anything), Tamahome nodded. "I'm fine."

He was more-or-less, he reasoned. The cut on his arm wasn't anything serious and while he'd lost one of his silver blades, he was willing to bet he'd be able to get it replaced easily enough in this town.

"That's a relief," Michael said, "Mind telling me what happened?"

The teen fidgeted, chewing his lip for a moment before replying. "I wanted to see the ruins. I hurt my arm while I was looking around them. But it's not bad."

Michael frowned. "Make sure you clean it off well, then. I don't want it getting infected. There's a first-aid kit under the sink." He gestured, pointing out the cabinet where it was kept. "Do you need any help with getting it wrapped up?"

He did know the ruins were dangerous, but it was good that Tamahome apparently didn't run into anything worse than a ill-placed stone.

"And, next time, you might want to stick to the ruins during daylight, unless we're looking for something."

Tamahome nodded and knelt down to dig the first-aid kit out from under the sink, a silent sigh of relief breathed from his lips as he did so. Standing, he placed the kit on the table, searching through it for what looked like an antiseptic wipe.

"Would you just help me wrap it," he asked quietly. In a pinch, he could do it himself but it was on his upper right arm and could be a bit tricky to tie off on his own.

"Certainly," Michael said. "That tube is antibiotic ointment, by the way." He wasn't sure how well Tamahome could read Italian, especially medical language.

Squinting at the writing on the tube, Tamahome frowned. He actually couldn`t read Italian at all. His family had been too poor to afford to send him to more than the local temple school and he`d dropped out of that after his mother had died. Tokaki had taught him basic arithmatic, reading and writing in Chinese, and the English alphabet but hadn`t gotten to Italian. Admittidly, he hadn`t been the best student except for the math, which he`d recognized as a way to help him balance the family finances.

Michael frowned as well. "We'll have to work on reading as well." He unscrewed the cap, and held out the tube, unsure of Tamahome wanted to apply it to his own wound, or if it was was easier for Michael to do it for him.

The teen squelched a sound of protect, accepting the tube. He gingerly applied the cream, sitting down to make it easier for Michael to wrap the bandage. "I can read," he muttered faintly, barely able to be heard. He could... in Chinese. After a fashion.

"Mm-hmm." Michael nodded, picking up the bandage, and carefully wrapping it around Tamahome's arm. "You probably already know this, but keep this on until it heals, and change it if it gets wet."

The boy wilted visibly at the older Knight's tone. It was obvious Michael wasn't buying it. And he'd hoped to be done with that sort of lessons... He sighed, giving a nod as he looked at his arm. "I know. Thank you."

He did consider for a moment that he should tell Michael about the vampire, but the thought was brushed away as quickly as it had come. At seventeen, Tamahome was still young enough and foolhardy enough to believe that he could handle that problem on his own, even if Nakago was an obnoxious (powerful) bastard.

"You're welcome." Michael said. "You might want to see if one of the boys has something that interests you for books." He said that last bit offhandedly, as he taped the bandage into place.

Tamahome perked up a bit as he tested his arm, nodding in satisfaction at the wrap job. Maybe one of them would have something on martial arts or.. "Basketball," he said suddenly. "I like basketball."

He blushed at the admission, certain it would sound strange coming out at such a time.
