8 Simple Rules for Living With My Teenage Scientist (and a Paranormal Psychologist!)

Feb 24, 2008 20:07

Characters: Bit, Ema, and Phoenix
Content: Ema brings her boyfriend science experiment Bit home to father Phoenix for the first time.
Setting: Phoenix and Ema's apartment place.
Time: Sometime! Afternoontime?
Warnings: Bit and Phoenix. Is that warning enough?

Ema was in noticeably high spirits. She felt as if she had just discovered a new species or found a cure for cancer. Oh, she could almost smell that Nobel Prize now! (Then she began to wonder if a Nobel Prize did have a smell. She was sure, at the very least, that it smelled of victory. Now what did victory smell like? ...Why did she always over-think these things?)

The reason for Ema's jubilation? A were! That's right, a were was coming to live with her! Now, to most people this would not be a cause for celebration, but Ema was a scientist! And scientists were never completely sane and--hey, was she stereotyping herself now? Oh well! She was too happy to care. Her mind was going at 340.29 meters per second! (the speed of sound--she was sure of it!)

Ah, they were almost there! Ema ran the last few steps up to the apartment complex, stopping for a moment to turn to Bit and say, "Come on up!" before she was off again. Hyper? Ema? No.

Now, here was the final test. Ema took a deep breath to calm herself as she stood outside the door to the apartment she shared with Phoenix. Ah. What would he say? Sure, she had talked with him about it but he wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it...

Well, here goes nothing! She opened up the door and with a wave of her hand invited Bit inside. "Come in and make yourself at home."

"Mr. Wright!" she called as she entered the apartment herself, "We're here!"
