Sepia speed-sketches

Oct 14, 2007 15:07

New arts :) I'm in a traditional media phase at the moment, I'm really loving that rich, rough sketchyness that I can get by draggin' my pencil over some textured paper; playing with detail in areas and then roaming the page with a harsher line.....

Anyway, here are the results so far (about 20-30 min each). The sepia-ness was added in photoshop to give them that delicious concept-art look :D Hmmm, its so much easier to sketch when you use reference images.... OK her head is messed up in the first one, but it's difficult to fix such mistakes when you work A5 size. Also I really need to go to an art supplies shop, and obtain some smudge-sticks, textured paper etc. (Sepia or grey paper perhaps!)
