Well.
I'm about to take the plunge and post my first bit of Good Omens fanfic to the
lower_tadfield community.
It's a bit nerve-wracking, actually. I love to write, and I love Good Omens, and I have so many ideas and scenes and vignettes floating around in my head. All very well, you might say.
However, I also have little self-confidence in my ability to write. I am an amateur, in the true sense of the word, with no training and little practice. Well, that's not quite right; as a scientist, I have had a lot of writing experience, in notebooks, reports, scientific manuscripts, for example. But it's not really the same as fiction, is it?
In addiditon, Good Omens has such an intelligent, literate fan base that I fear my meager little efforts will not be able to stand up.
But -- the Muse calls, and perhaps the established writers in the fandom will look with indulgence upon me as I try to stretch my wings (forgive the metaphor).
