The pain got really bad again last night. I finally decided it was time to visit the ER. I was so out of sorts that Rory had trouble getting me to put on clothes. I was speaking in tongues and freaking out significantly. When you show up to an ER in your underwear howling in pain they tend to take you seriously. They fast-tracked me.
I got another round of everything that I got at the docs yesterday - but this time they also sent me right over to their CAT scanner. I couldn't give them urine since I'd not had much to drink in 20 hours. They gave me morphine. Everything you've ever heard about morphine is true. I was very happy for several hours. After the morphine I was finally able to give them a urine sample. It was as dark as tea, so I knew right away something was up.
Verdict: kidney stone 1-2mm in size. Sadly I came down off of the high this morning, but they did give me a scrip for Vicadin, and a strainer I can pee through so I can send in the stone when it finally decides to go away.
I got all the usual lines about stones being as close as a man can get to pregnancy. By that standard I've been in labor for roughly 36 hours. Seems like a long process for a 1mm delivery. I really wish all this pain was part of a process to do something great like bring a child into the world. Ah well.
