It has been in the nineties every day this week. I finally gave in and installed my air conditioners. My bedroom has a door, so keeping that room cool is pretty simple, but my livingroom has an open doorway, and it was proving to be much more difficult. Today I came up with a slightly dorky (but very effective) solution that I thought some of my fellow grad students might appreciate. I picked up a very pretty fabric shower curtain from Bed, Bath, & Beyond (one that looks good from both sides) and a tension rod. Just suspend the curtain in the doorway, and voila. You wouldn't think such efforts would really do much, but the difference is amazing.

Apparently we're in for some really severe thunderstorms tonight. Cory is sitting next to me on the couch reading Naked by David Sedaris in hopes that they'll pass before he has to go. Let's hope so.
