Good news from Canada: I've been awarded a fellowship!
Those of you with good memories may be muttering "amnesia" and "deja-vu" at this point, but no, I've been awarded another fellowship. This new one's an Alberta Ingenuity fellowship, and it's got a picture of a mountain on it. Truly Canada is the land of opportunity!
This one's worth much more than the last one, and means that I am now FREE to employ - I won't cost my supervisor one bean of his grant money. (In fact, unless he's kind enough to divert the proceeds my way, he'll turn a tidy profit on me!)
I wonder if I can build an academic career out of this? If I reach critical mass I need never publish again, and can simply be awarded new fellowships on the basis of the fellowships I have previously been awarded...
In other news, the Canadian High Commission are continuing to refuse me a visa. This is because I do not qualify for exception "C44 - Postdoctoral Fellows". Hmmm.
