[ Rhodey's on his couch. There's a mess of wires in the background, but Rhodey seems perfectly relaxed. There's a cat on his lap, barely more than a kitten, really, and he's petting it, running his hands over her fur in slow, regular motions. Always wanted a cat. Guess for all that dimensional kidnapping sucks, at least now I'm in one place enough

[ Arthur watches with a smile, secretly an animal lover, and the kitten is adorable. He doesn't really know anyone here yet outside of people from back home, so why not say hi. ]

You'll be pushing catnip on it next.

Could happen, yeah. [ Scritching the cat's head. He's seen Arthur's first network post, so the next question seems safe enough: ] You new here?

[ His gaze is still trained on the small ball of fluff. ] Yeah, I've been here around a week. Have you been here long?

[awarmachine]

'bout a month longer than you, I'd say. [ Noticing the gaze and lifting her up a little so she's in the center of the screen, nestled against his chest rather than in his lap. ]

[ He can't help it, he's outright smiling, and usually he avoids letting anyone know he does much of that. But it's too cute, and it's not like the guy knows him. ]

Does she have a name?

[awarmachine]

Not yet. I'm still thinking on it. [ Well, that guy is easily made happy. ]

[elegantinmind]

Don't wait too long, they learn them young.

[ But back to the other part of the conversation. ] Does the strange aspect of this city wear off?

[awarmachine]

I only just got her today.

[ Shrugging. ] It does, a little. You just get used to it and stop thinking on it all the time.

[elegantinmind]

The two work colleagues I know here make it more complicated than the city itself. But I'm used to adjusting.

[ Because he's curious about something he said earlier. ] What do you do here, if it's all right to ask?

[awarmachine]

Yeah? I found it easier to settle 'caues I knew people. [ Well, Tony. ] This or that. Some security work, some heavy lifting, bit of engineering. [ As in, he helped Tony get his groove back by building an awful radio. It counts. ]

[elegantinmind]

Like I said, it's complicated. [ He's not really sure if it's his place to say anything about it. ] I'm told that I've been here before, but I have no recollection of any of it.

[ Arthur looks impressed. ] It never hurts to have knowledge in varying areas.

Yeah, that would make it complicated. Makes me glad this is my first stint in interdimensional travel, apparently.

[ Grinning. ] Too true.

It must be nice to lack expectations hanging over your head. [ But he doesn't sound bitter, if anything there's a hint of amusement creeping in. ] Which do you have, friends or family?

[awarmachine]

Friend. [ Eyes flickering back to the mess of wires. ] Best friend, really.

[elegantinmind]

[ Arthur notices the mess, but he feels it would be rude to comment. The smile is a little sad, though, because he doesn't have the claim to a best friend, and Cobb hardly counts. ] It must help to have that comfort.

Yeah, it certainly helps. [ Noting but not commenting on the hint of sadness. ]
