Samantha slept over last night. We spend way too much time on youtube. We found this site... www.willitblend.com. I suggest that all visit it. I didn't know that ball point pens made smoke when you put them in a blender. Very educational.
I bought a lot of clothes today. Nice clothes, for my conference. I also bought Uncle Tom's Cabin, which I have actually intended to read since 8th grade.
Know what's a bunch of BS? Sophomore English. I believe that my IQ is substantially lowered with every class that I attend. We were just assigned to draw a picture on a large piece of paper. That's it. Vez was like, "Now remember, this is an art project, so no stick figures will be accepted." GEEZ, I SERIOUSLY THOUGHT I PASSED KINDERGARTEN A FEW YEARS AGO. I MUST BE MISTAKEN. I did not sign up to take "art" this year, and for a good reason. I also did not sign up to take "remedial literacy for retards." I would greatly appreciate being taught grammar applicable to my WRITING, rather than doing things like... circling the action verbs in a sentence. OMG IT'S REALLY HARD. Let's try one.
Circle the action verb in the following sentence:
He ran.
Dammit, I have no idea what the answer is. I better ask for help. I also need help coloring my picture, because I'm not entirely sure how I will manage to stay in the lines, and I don't know what colors look good together. Actually, you know what? Because I refuse to put any effort into this class, I'm just going to do a google image search, print out a picture, and paste in on a large sheet of paper. And I will probably get an A. English is the new "I want to kill myself" class. In middle school it was woodshop. I wanted to put a saw to my face and end the misery. Now I want to slit my throat with my art project. I was moved to a different math class... can I be moved to a different English class, too? :-D Oh, and I also think it's really funny how Vez calls on people randomly because nobody raises their hand or even pays attention, so it really does not matter who she calls on because the answer she will get is, "I don't know." A very large part of me does not want to take AP English next year because she will be my teacher... again.
Things that I would really like to learn in an English class, but never will:
-When I should use the word "whom"
-When does one use a comma, anyway?
-Common prefixes and suffixes and their meanings
-How to most effectively organize persuasive essays and research papers
-Writing effective sentences (not essays, not paragraphs... individual sentences)
-Read critically
Things that I would like to immediately stop learning and doing in my English class:
-Making art projects
-Watching movies
-Listening to my teacher talk about God because she is a religious freak and I'm disgusted with her zealousness
-Reading poetry and taking interpretations so far that the poem can mean anything
-Learning what a verb is
-Learning "new" vocabulary words, like "choice" (that was one of them... I'm not kidding.)
