Everyone's a Critic

I just came to the conclusion that since I work at a video store and enjoy movies, I am going to write a movie rental review once a week. They won't be super long, but just enough to whet your tastebuds with curiosity. I figured that if for no other reason, people may be attracted to read my journal because of the review, so with the first installment, enjoy.

Title: The Butterfly Effect

Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Amy Smart, and that Big dude from Mallrats and Remember the Titans (Ethan Suplee if you want to get technical.

Run Time: 110 min. Theatrical cut 117 min. Directors Cut

Story: Ashton Kutcher character Evan, has to live with the terrible yet intriguing flaw of blackouts. After his blackouts, he can remember nothing that happened during the time when he was out. After seeing a doctor and being told to write a journal of everything that he remembers from the day, he finds out he has a special gift. His gift allows him to travel back to the time of his blackout and unbeknownst to him, change the present day.

Bottom Line: Expect a few cringes when you meet Tommy. Although this is Ashton's first dramatic role, he pulls it off in the end. I thought however, that the kids in this movie are what made it shine the most. A lower budget film that uses most of it to make the movie better, not overpay actors and catering. This movie isn't for the faint of heart, because of a few grusome scenes. I enjoyed it enough to buy it when it goes on sale at my store for ten bucks. I recommend that anyone who likes psychological thrillers, definetly sees this. It turns itself into a morbid Groundhog's Day, but it surpasses that by a long shot. You will not get punk'd by watching this movie.

Score: 1)Superb, Buying It

Out of: 1)Superb, Buying It
2)Above Decent, Renting it, then a year later, renting again
3)Decent, Renting it, happy to return
4)Below Decent, Could have used a big sandwich during it
5)God Awful, going to destroy the movie and pay the replacement cost

I'm tired of typing. I did figure out the "band" name. We are going to be called "PatchWork". Tell me how you like it. Latr
