So, I was crying so hard during the Hannibal season finale that my dad actually came upstairs to see if I was okay.

Okay, I figured out which post on tumblr you were talking about.

And yeah, that person clearly just wanted someone to agree with them about wanting to read Bruce + Tony + Peter + Reed Richards gen and having to deal with with anyone touching dicks and is COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS to the fact that he/she is missing, like, SO MUCH FANNISH CONTEXT.

Where are the women? Why are there no canon queers in any of those movies? Do you realize that you're reusing an argument that has been used to shut down femmeslash and slash and noncanon het pairings? (As you mentioned.)

I feel like the OP would had a MUCH better reception if they had just stuck with stating what they wanted to see more of. "I want to read more gen fic about Bruce and Tony and Peter and Reed" (which, cry more, I know there is a nice fat chuck of that kind of fic) instead of being passive aggressive (again, as you mentioned) and acting like there was something WRONG with the fact that people ship those pairings.

"are they really erasing women"

When you are making an AU gif-set of different DUDES who do science FROM DIFFERENT MOVIES AND FRANCHISES and are ignoring the women who ALSO do science in those same movies and franchises, yes, that is the definition of erasing women. ESPECIALLY THE WOMEN WHO ARE CANONICALLY MORE RELEVANT TO BRUCE AND TONY BY VIRTUE OF BEING IN THE SAME FRANCHISES AND OH ALSO HAS A PAST HISTORY WITH BRUCE, YOU ARE SUPER ERASING WOMEN.

(I am afraid I wasn't clear enough earlier! 100% my bad. There were two different posts, one post was trying to deflect a slash conversation with the phrase "why does everything have to be about sex", which I took issue with because of the way it was framed, but the second post I'm talking about was the return of that science bros post to my dash, which is the one you saw!

Good god tumblr is a confusing platform)

Pretty much!??!??! Like, I think the person who said that meant that they didn't think the OP was erasing women just for the sake of erasing women/doing it on purpose? But I don't think that person understood that intent really doesn't matter if women are functionally erased.

And I feel like the science bros in question being from different universes is really just salting the wound. LIKE, THEY COULD HAVE EVEN HAD A SIX PERSON GIFSET IF THEY REALLY NEEDED REED AND PARKER!

First off, the fact that the OP just FORGOT about the canon science ladies of the MCU REALLY doesn't make me feel better. SECOND, there has been SUCH a deliberate, consistent CAMPAIGN to erase the contributions and breakthroughs that forgetting the MCU ladies of science feels extra, EXTRA insulting.
