I am ridiculously excited about this
Jonathan L. Howard is going to be publishing a YA novel next November called "Katya's World". It's science fiction/steampunk (in the article, he has some very nice comments about science fiction as a genre), and it looks very interesting.

I'm usually somewhat cautious when authors make the jump from adult fiction to YA, but asdfkjl; it has a really interesting premise.
And I might even be able to get a galley through the teen program to read a couple months early, since I know the librarian there and she's read some of Howard's works before.
