Just read the first two issues of Aquaman and the first three of Batwoman.
Aquaman: I LOVED IT. Arthur, Mera, WHY ARE YOU TWO SUCH A GREAT POWER COUPLE!? And I loved all the deep-sea stuff and the art and the monsters very clearly inspired by the deep sea; it's true, the further down you go, the weirder the critters. It made me really happy. I also felt kinda bad for Arthur trying to adjust to life on land again, and Mera wanting to learn more about how people on the surface lived was just so damn cute. Secret; when I was a kid, Aquaman was my favorite member of the Super Friends. Seeing him taken seriously for once is a nice nod to my childhood.
Batwoman: I liked it a lot. In terms of plot, language, and art it's spectacular. It gets special mention for the way the art is used collectively as a story-telling tool. I mean, all graphic novels use it to an extent, but Batwoman incorporates a very nice graphic flow that is, itself, deeply artistic and tells a story within a story. I really love the way Kate's sexuality is introduced (and I'm totally rooting for her cop girlfriend). I'm really interested in seeing how those two develop. It's definitely the darkest reboot story I've seen. It's wonderfully done, but I can see how it's not something I'd always be in the mood for. (The one thing I really don't get about Batwoman is how she is connected to Bruce Wayne in any way. Although I'm really excited about this series...I WAS expecting something that tied into Batfam in some way.)
PS: I seriously need DCU icons.
