Getting "profiled"

Dec 02, 2007 22:37

I wasn't with him when it happened, but Mark got pulled over tonight on his way to an APO Initiation.  Why?  Because a cop happened to pull behind him, run his tags, and see that his name on the registration came up as someone with former DUI's.  He wasn't doing anything wrong, and there was no reason for the cop to pull him over...just because his plate came back co-registered to someone who'd had DUI's in the past, he got pulled over and got put through a field sobriety check.

Profiling, anyone?

Needless to say, the cop had nothing on him and let him go - making him late to the ceremony, and irked about the incident.  When he told me about it, I got even more irked.  (I wasn't with him b/c I'd gone to an NSU meeting before, and went from NSU to ODU)  It just pisses me off that there there was NO DAMNED REASON to pull him over except that some asshole cop thinking that he'd nab a DUI.  It's been over a year since he started the process to successfully get his license back, and he's been squeeky clean on the road since then.

I was tempted to call the City of Chesapeake to bitch on Monday, but he said to just drop it.

It still makes me MAD.
