Notes:  I'd just like to say first of all that I wrote this after basically not sleeping, so.... it may not be up to par, but the prompt was so awesome that I really did try to live up to it.
Prompt:  Proselytize - The Joker - Batman: The Dark Knight - drkwoman88 .

Harvey liked to listen to the Joker talk.  It wasn’t that he found the Joker’s voice to be pleasant or agreed with anything that the Joker said - far from it, actually.  But there was something about it that resonated with him.  It was like a signal that was on the same frequency as part of his brain.

Half your brain, he reminded himself.

Shut up.

But it couldn’t be denied.  He didn’t agree with what the Joker said, but oftentimes he found himself sitting in a corner, quietly listening to the Joker as he talked to his followers and would-be followers, proselytizing them like a god-damned priest.  He was mesmerizing.  And he knew it.  Nothing thrilled the Joker more than manipulation and these lunatics and morons were easy prey.  His eyes gleamed and his body twitched as though physically unable to contain his madness as he spoke to the wide eyes and simple minds of his followers.  But every now and again, the Joker would look right into Harvey’s eyes and just smile and Harvey knew that it was nothing but a big joke.

But even being in on the joke couldn’t prevent Harvey from listening to the Joker’s voice speak the same language as the whispering voice inside his head….   He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the wall and fell asleep to the sound of the Joker’s words.
