“Well well well.  I didn’t think I’d find you here.”

Axel looked up to find Xigbar standing in front of the table with a stack of books in his arms.  He had on a heavy leather jacket to combat the cold outside and in the library itself.  It was with amusement that Axel noted that a pair of reading glasses were hanging from a cord around Xigbar’s neck.

“It’s finals week.  Where the hell else would I be except the library?”

“Beats me.  I just don’t see you studying in here much.”  Without even asking if Axel minded company, Xigbar pulled up a chair and dumped his books on the table.  “You’re usually studying outside or in your room or something.”

“It’s a little cold outside, if you didn’t notice.”  Axel gestured to the snow falling outside the window.  “And I study here plenty.  Roxas likes to listen to music when he studies and it drives me crazy.”

“Hm.  Guess I just never see you then.”  Xigbar put on the reading glasses and flipped open one of the books.

“Since when have you used reading glasses?”  Axel watched him with much bemusement.  “Never thought you’d go for the librarian look, but I think it works for you.”

“They’re Xaldin’s for your information,” smirked Xigbar.  “I borrow them whenever I know I’m going to be doing a lot of reading.  And you’re one to talk about dressing like a librarian.  What’s up with that sweater vest?”

Axel looked down at himself.  He was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and an argyle sweater vest.  Okay, so maybe it wasn’t the most fashionable thing in his closet, but he liked his sweater vest, dammit!

“It’s fucking cold outside, that’s what’s up with it.”  Axel glared defensively.  “It’s comfy and it keeps me warm.  You got a problem with that?”

“Not at all.”  Xigbar leaned back in his chair and grinned at Axel.  “Although if you ask me, it shows off your little tummy.  Looks like you’ve been hittin’ the ice cream pretty hard there, Red.”

Axel leaned forward over the table, glaring at him.

“Are you saying I’m fat?”

“Naw, I’m sayin’ you’ve got a healthy amount of meat on your bones.  Half the time you look like a half-starved hedgehog.”  Xigbar’s grinning face was suddenly less than in inch away from Axel’s.  “But I didn’t say that your extra meat was a bad thing.”

Xigbar hooked a single finger in the front of Axel’s sweater vest and pulled him forward.

“In fact… I find the whole ensemble very appealing.”

The kiss lasted long enough for Axel to climb over the table and push the reading glasses up so that they were resting on Xigbar’s hair.  The second one lasted long enough for them to find a dusty, abandoned-looking row of shelves.  The third one lasted long enough for Xigbar to push Axel up against a shelf full of old atlases.  By the time the glasses were tossed on top of a decrepit encyclopedia and the sweater vest was peeled off and discarded on the floor, the two of them had stopped keeping track.

kingdom hearts, axel, xigbar, xigbar/axel, crack
