a/n: OKAY, it's been so long that I even got locked out of my account and had to do some security check lol my page is also a mess with ads everywhere and the formatting is off so I'll need to do some housekeeping another time... but in the meantime, let's celebrate Junno's birthday with a lil something... as I said, it's been a while sooooo someone might be out of practise but I still hope you'll have a good read ♡

It's not every day someone shows up at your door with a bouquet.

But today, with the sun a little shy and the wind being cool and touchy and flirting with their skin... today is no ordinary day.

"Do you intend to let me stand out here and further embarrass myself?" Tatsuya raises an eyebrow high in displeasure.

Junno's eyes open wide, his pupils dilating and though he wants to answer, not only has he turned mute but the words he wants to utter become scattered letters instead.

Tatsuya pushes past and lets himself in...

But the moment he steps past the threshold, his whole being tremors and he tosses the bouquet to Junno.

Junno catches the bundle of red and pink calla lillies, still unable to form a proper sentence, still staring wide-eyed like it's Santa Claus who has showed up at his door.

Looking around the apartment, Tatsuya's nostrils flare, inhaling the bare minimum of fabric softener in the curtains, a meal just cooked and had but stronger than any other, is the sudden nostalgia that folds over him and he can feel his heart growing tiny flowers like an abandoned garden being watered.

"For me?" Junno finally stutters.

"I don't see anyone else here," answers Tatsuya, still looking around, swiping his fingers along the edges of the sofa where they once laid with limbs tangled while lips were kissing necks and just so, he continues walking about the living room like a trip down memory lane... a scent that isn't from the laundry or from lunch... a scent that's distinctively Junno's tingles his nose like hypnotic incense, "unless you'd rather cake but you probably have had enough of that today".

"Uepi", Junno walks on tiptoes over to him, his eyes not as wide as before but still pitch disbelief, "Did you really come to see me?" he asks, gently placing the flowers on the table and is now standing in front of the man who, for a long while now, feels like a dream he had and one day was forced to wake up from.

Tatsuya laughs, a short contemplative chuckle as though he too, has questions about him being where he is, feeling nostalgic with the way his nose tingles and the ascending badump badump of his heart, confirming that feelings he'd long put to sleep had woken up with him since morning. "Unless, you now have a roommate", he says, a tremble in his voice, a fault of the tremble also in his heart with the way his statement pitches from his throat like a very curious question.

Junno stands before him, finally his eyes back to normal and words come rolling out from his tongue, "It's been a long while", he says, swallowing, his focus keen on the man before him, "why did you suddenly come to see me?"

Tatsuya looks up at him momentarily then shifts his stare, giggles a bit of insanity then looks back to meet Junno's brewing anxiety, "That's what I want to know", he simply answers as though that's enough, "Can you tell me?"

Junno steps even closer, his eyes more daring, his hands reaching, "Uepi.. is this your answer? Is this your gift?"

And Tatsuya sighs, his left cheek now resting in Junno's right palm and he closed his eyes at the warmth, the nostalgia of a time past when this very heat kept him warm like amber and just so, inhaling, feeling his body trembling, he sighs again and laughs, his eyes finally tracing Junno's, reading... searching for some semblance of the feelings he woke up with and when Junno's hand shifts from his cheek and glides down the back of his neck and slowly draws him in, Tatsuya's knees jerk and he staggers a bit as Junno leans in and captures his lips betwixt his... the clock on the wall tick tock tick tock as though trying to reset to the very beginning.

But there's no need.

"Happy Birthday, Junno".

Junno grins so wide, his eyes hidden in his smile but his hands tight around Tatsuya's waist and he's telling himself to never let it go this time. "You could've at least gotten me some fresh flowers from a shop", is his reply, "You know, something not looking like you dug it from the side of the road".

Tatsuya laughs, glances at the bouquet Junno had placed to the side before shifting back to take in all the smiles Junno keeps showering him with and oh how much he'd missed this sort of fixation and pampering. "Who cares? It's not like they're your real gift".

At this, Junno lifts an eyebrow, his expression cocky, waiting for Tatsuya to whisper sweetness in his ears then grow red from embarrassment, "So..", he wets his lips, "Where's my real gift?"

There's laughter accompanying the look Tatsuya gives him, eyes glossy and hopeful as every roll of his pupils survey Junno with love, "It's hidden".

Junno is looking at him appalled, "Hidden where? After all this you don't expect me to go scavenger hunting, right?"

Tatsuya laughs all the more, a haughty huff that lifts from his chest, leaps through his mouth and spreads from his lips to his eyes and then his whole face, "Tonight, tomorrow, day or night or in twenty years, you'll never be able to see it", he grins, poking Junno in his side all playful and mischievous but when Junno looks at him even more confused than Tatsuya intends, he sighs, takes Junno's left palm and presses it against his chest, "See...", he looks up at Junno , lips spreading like a perennial flower, "It's hidden... but it's yours... apparently, it has always been".

Junno is back to being mute.

His breathing back to being rough and uneven and his pupils wide, taking in Tatsuya's eyes and his smile and the muscles in his neck and the shape of his nose and flawlessness of his skin and Tatsuya's heartbeat vibrating through him and all he can say is, "If I die, it's from too much love."
