Cupcakes. Paisley. Twisting.

Okay. I need to sleep and stuffs but first, a quick post about the concert (OK Go and a bunch of shitty bands). Sarah's hopefully posting about the actual concert so I'm not going to, except I will say that falling over and having 4 people fall on top of you and thinking "oh God, I am actually going to be trampled to death" is not exactly the best thing ever. Still, we ended up not too wounded and by the time OK Go came on we were up about 3 rows back (from being very far back) and kind of off to the side so we had a good view of everyone but Dan. Was afraid for a moment that they weren't going to do the dance, but they did. Damian was very energetic and at some point actually ripped his shirt. He also crowd-surfed and it was all dandy.

The best part, though, was after. During Motion City Soundtrack, Sarah and I went and left to get merch and found Danielle and Katie who were standing back after injuries. Went up to the incredibly frightening bathrooms (plywood, curtains for doors and a circle that said "put sink here" because the Loveland is hardcore!) and then after ab it came down, ate, and then sat against a back wall and listened to other music (which was probably very rude, but it made the whole exeperience better). Then someone approached us and I thought "that's definitely Dan" but didn't say anything. He wanted to get us on the mailing list. They were really, really adamant about that mailing list. Neither Sarah nor I said anything besides just mailing list stuff to him and then he went over and stood in front of us for about five minutes, not moving, just standing there in his little hat and jacket as he watched the band. It was very amusing, though I don't know why. Then he left and my ass was hurting so we went to go move around in the back eating area and started dancing ("let's bring back the twist!") and talking while Dan continued to stand about trying to get people on his mailing list.

This is all quite boring, but then Sarah finally got the nerve to go up to him to get him to sign her single and had a conversation involving cupcakes. He didn't seem to like them very much, though Sarah argued they were good on occasion. He was really nice and seemed surprised to see people caring to talk to him, which was kind of adorable. Plus he had a hat. After that, Sarah went up and got signatures from all of them, which was good. I just kind of stood there. The band was still playing, I think, so it was kinda hard to talk to them. More standing about and twisting. There was a lot of twisting - it's a fun dance and needs to be brought back.

This part is too good for a cut. We decided to try to get them to twist with us because it seemed like a brilliant idea at the time. First we approached Tim, who was very happy to dance. He had some nice hand movements going on and could really shake it. Katie got a video of it on my phone; I'll try to figure out how to upload it. It was fun twisting with Tim and now I can say that I've done it (how many of you can lay that claim, hmm?).

We looked for Rusty and Dan to twist with, but Dan was busy talking and Rusty seemed to have disappeared and they were kicking us out, so no luck. Still, Damian was right by the door in the back room and we figured we could at least get him to twist with us.

Me: Damian, will you twist with us?
Damian: SURE! (or something to that effect)
*We dance, Katie videotapes.*
Damian: I FUCKING HATE THE TWIST.
Sarah: WHAT, WHY?!

Then we argued about how it should make a comeback, but he persisted it was lame and for "white people!" ("What do you think we are?!") And then... HE BROKE IT DOWN. "No you've gotta fucking break it down James Brown style!" He started shuffling and then did the half-splits kinda move on the floor why Sarah and I laughed hysterically and attempted to dance, then he just fell onto the floor in front of us into some sort of crouching position. I cannot even describe it, but it was AWESOME. Sarah needs to fill in the details here, but DAMIAN FUCKING BROKE IT DOWN. In a plaid coat with a popped collar! Persisting that the twist wasn't cool enough - you had to be more hardcore (like Prince? I don't even know, he had some weird arguments!) Okay I am really bad at describing this but it pretty much made me really happy!

Then Sarah and I were all spazzy afterwards with memories of cupcakes and the twist (it was good times!)

Okay more coherent/better post later!

ETA: Really shitty video of us twisting with Damian! Sadly missing when he really broke it down.
