Our windows are two panes instead of one. They're cut in half horizontally. This way, when the bottom window is pushed up, you can't really tell the window is open. Also, if someone tried to break in a window, they probably couldn't fit through.
Interesting, no?
Ok well that was the set up.
The punchline:
Zappa has the loud, unreasonable habit of jumping onto the windows and clinging with her front paws to the top wooden pane-split and her bottom paws resting/gripping on the bottom wooden pane-split.
The effect is that at night, through the curtain and shade, we see the outline of a cat in the middle of the window. Within ten seconds of that we hear a thud as her moment of claw-grip strength ends.
