I had to kill another house centipede. I wasn't going to, but Joey kind of chased it into the bedroom. I'm ok with house centipedes patrolling the living room, but they are not allowed near my bed. Nope. He was smooshed. It was a painless death. He hadn't been carrying his weight, anyways, since I had to take care of another bug yesterday.

It's wet and windy here. Fall has arrived.

On October 16th, I'm driving to Niagara Falls for the New York Librarian Association conference. Syracuse University will pay for my attendance fee ($25) if I volunteer to work in their booth for 2-3 hours. Most of the other students going are leaving Thursday night since it's a three hour trip and starts at 9am on Friday. The professor of our Thursday night class said it's ok for us to miss class for the NYLA conference, but I'd rather not. Plus, I've always enjoyed being among the students who stay behind, like when it's really awful weather and only a handful of kids go to class- I like that. It's modest sucking-up and alleviates panic about missing something crucial.

In January, the American Library Association is having their annual conference in Boston. I will probably attend that as well. There are only six cities that can host the ALA conferences because they have no less than 20,000 attendees. This year they actually expect more like 30,000.
One of the girls in my class, Jessie, is from Kentucky, Virginia & South Carolina (8 years a piece). She is REALLY excited about seeing Boston.
Anyone else ever get startled by this sort of thing?
My response was essentially Michael Bluth's "Her?"
