Quaggy's Year of Movies Part 3

The combination of movies this time around is eclectic, to say the least.

Beauty and the BeastIt's been so long since I saw this film. It will always have the special honor of being my favorite Disney film. The movie itself still hold up, but one thing that surprised me what how... traditional Belle still was? She was still the gateway heroine, ( Read more... )

Hi! How have I been missing Quaggy's Year of Movies??? By staying off LJ, I guess. :) Well I'm here now and I'm definitely going to go back and read what you've already posted.

Beauty. Disney is sort of a blind spot for me. I seem to have been born without the right receptors for several things that are well loved by others (Disney Pricesses, Muppets, Elvis...) So I just trust other people's judgment on these things. Glad you enjoyed it the second time around!

Avengers Well I agree, it was great! I do like superhero movies (not all, but some) and the combo of Avengers and Joss was something I knew I'd love. I want another one, because I love the interaction between those great actors/characters and I think there's MUCH more fun to be had there. Of the other movies, I'd recommend Captain America (just ask gatz, who has no use for superheroes -- she loved it). It has a really fun, retro feel because of the WWII setting. Also Iron Man (because RDJ is just delightful).

Serenity Yes to everything! So glad you got to see it on a big screen. I just love that movie (despite what Joss did to us). We can't have more because not everyone went to see it in the theater THREE TIMES in its first week just to boost the box office. :) I tried. #browncoats

Lorax I've Mom-watched The Lorax. Which means I've heard the audio while my kids are watching it and I do other things around the house. It seems cute. My kids actually like it a lot -- the older ones more than the young one, even. I don't know why, but it's definitely one of their favorites.

Heh. Well, it's not like I've been all that active either! And it's not like I've suddenly turned into some movie buff. It's just that usually I watch maybe 3 or four movies in the theaters a year and I beat that record by March this year!

Oh, I know that feeling. There are plenty of things I just can't get excited about that everyone else seems to love!

Yes! I can't wait to Avengers 2 comes out! And the friend that made me go see Avengers (or Avengers Assemble as it's called over here) is also making sure that I see the most of the previous movies. Iron Man will be in Quaggy's Year of Movies Part 4 and I'm pretty sure that means I'll be watching Thor in the sometime relatively soon. In return, I'm making her watch Studio Ghibli films with me. :-)
