Jersey Boys
HOLY SHIZZLE!
I went and saw the premiere of Jersey Boys last night in SF, and it is awesome. I'm saying this unreservedly. In fact, it was the first theatrical performance that I can honestly say had no weaknesses. The only thing that I can come up with is that it doesn't have a lot of strong female roles, but then again, it's about macho guys and told from a macho guy's perspective, so judge it as you will.
I'm not a total fan of the Four Seasons, even after hearing this show, but I have to say that how they set up the songs, perform them, and wow you away at their harmonies and power, that the show is just amazing. Add that all of the additional characters bring humor, life, and drama to the show, and you have a total winner and basically the best show out there today.
So superlatives aside, if you've got the money, go and see it. It's going to be heavily sold soon, and it's only scheduled until the beginning of February, so get your tickets now. They can be pricey, but after that show, I have to say that it's totally worth it.
And hanging out with George Lucas didn't hurt my impression of the show at all.
